Help us represent Australia!

Donation protected
We've had the privilege of being selected to represent Australia at the IPCH - IWAS Power Hockey World Championships in Lignano-Sabbiadoro, Italy. The tournament runs from September 21-Oct 1 2018.

We are siblings with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare neuromuscular condition. We both use electric wheelchairs for daily mobility. We've both been involved in electric wheelchair sports for over a decade, playing locally, volunteering with junior wheelchair sport leagues in Adelaide and representing our home state, South Australia in National competitions. This is our first time competing internationally to represent Australia. We are both thrilled to be given this opportunity!

We're only a few weeks out from travelling and we're still fundraising for the trip where we can. In the past few months we've been travelling interstate around Australia to train with the Australian team, and preparing for the competition. Along the way, our costs are not only for ourselves, but for the costs of carers also, who we need to support us day-to-day.

We’re looking to raise $10,000. This money will cover the cost of our carer's airfares and accommodation for their stay in Italy. Funding for Powerchair sports, including carer costs, are not commonwealth or government funded - nearly all funding to represent Australia at competitions like these comes from the pockets of players, supporters and their families. Our costs are often double that of able bodied athletes, who do not need to fund a carer to travel with them

Any support you can give us will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Santo & Chantel.
