Help Tracy Evans live with cancer

This isn't the story of a sad, pitiful, sick lady. This is the story of the kind, generous, loving woman I proudly call "Mom". Yes, unfortunately she has stage 4 breast cancer, but before we get into the plague that is cancer, let's talk Tracy Evans.

Tracy is genuinely the kindest person I have ever known. I think that many would agree with this statement. Co-workers have even jokingly called her "Ghandi" because of her peaceful outlook on every situation.

Tracy is mother to 3, grandmother to 4, friend to many, and warmhearted to all.

This is a woman who sends what she calls "happy mail" (small gifts she mails for no occasion other than to make someone smile) to family, friends, and co-workers. For example, she sends funny movies to people she knows could use a laugh. She crochets baby blankets for anyone she knows who has a baby. Tracy leaves anonymous gifts for her neighbors during the holidays. She buys the food of total strangers behind her in line at the drive-thru. She doesn't do these things to make herself look good, a lot of times she doesn't get credit. Tracy is just extremely kindhearted and thoughtful. Even her job is helping people in their time of need. She has been a dispatcher at the Sheriff's Office for over 20 years.

She is a lover of books and their abilitly to transport you to a different world. Tracy is a sewer, cross sticher, and crocheter (but don't ask her draw a straight line!). She is a dog person. She is crazy about her grandchildren and spoils them all. Tracy finds the most peace at the beach, staring into the ocean; and will gladly make a day trip to the coast.

Now, that cancer...

It was May 2013 when our family received the worst news, my mom, Tracy, had stage 4 breast cancer. This means that her cancer had already spread from her breast to her lymph system and other organs. Obviously, you hope to catch cancer earlier than this. In the last four years, cancer has been found in Tracy's breast, lymph nodes, liver, lungs, hip bone, and base of her skull.

Treatment would consist of chemotherapy and radiation. She underwent one round of radiation on her skull with successful results, and fortunately has not needed any more radiation. Chemo has been an ongoing process since being diagnosed.

Tracy gets full body scans every few months, so when one chemo appears to stop working (her cancer grows), the doctors switch it up to a different chemo. My mom has been lucky with most of her chemo treatments, they make her extremely tired and nauseous, she lost her hair (she has a great shaped head!), but nothing super crazy... until this past year.

In the past year Tracy has started having more complications. She feels tired even more. She ended up in the hospital a few times with infections. She has severe edema (swelling) in her legs and feet, making it very difficult for her to walk any length of time. She has had neuropathy (constant numbness in hands and feet) for a while, but that has worsened a lot as well. And yet, every day she gets up, has a smile on her face, goes to work and about her day as best she can. She is still being her big-hearted self.

Tracy works full time, 12 hour shifts, which isn't easy even for the healthiest of people. She pays what she can on medical bills every month. But she still has about $15,000 in medical bills, with no end to treatment in sight.

This is why I decided to start this fundraiser for my mom. She needs and deserves help, but won't ask for it herself. Not because of pride, but because she doesn't throw herself pity parties and she is strong and capable of surviving on her own. But with your help, we can eliminate some of Tracy's worries, allowing her to focus on living with cancer and enjoying life. I would like to raise as much money as I can for her to use on medical bills and personal expenses.

Please know that your donation is going to a very deserving and amazing woman. Tracy, as well as her family and friends, are extremely grateful for all donations. If you can't afford to donate, please still share this on your social media profiles, everything helps!!
