Help Tom get a new Hand Cycle!

Tom was able to find his love for competing in sports again when we were introduced to hand cycling. In high school, Tom loved to play football and was very active. A few weeks after high school graduation, Tom and a few friends were involved in a tragic car accident. Tom suffered a severe spinal cord injury, which left him with paralysis in all four limbs. Tom spent the next few months in hospitals going through multiple surgeries and intensive physical therapy. The doctors told Tom's family that he would never walk again, but Tom was not ready to accept that as his future. We are now 12 years out from Tom's car accident, and he is striving to get better everyday. I am setting up this go fund me for Tom, because as his wife, I know how much he gives and helps others, always putting others before himself and I truly know it would mean the world to him if we were to able to help him reach his dream!
Tom has been competing in Marathon's for 3 years now. Tom is in need of a new hand cycle that will allow him to increase his training and his ability to be a top competitor in marathons all over the country. Tom's dream is to one day qualify for the Paralympics!
Unfortunately, equipment for individuals with disabilities is much more expensive then it is for able bodies. With a new hand cycle, Tom would be able to increase his training, and have a cycle that is fitted and made just for him. This opportunity could open so many doors for Tom, and I know he would be extremely grateful. Seeing Tom compete in races brings so much joy to his family and friends because Tom was able to find a sport that made him feel alive again. Hand cycling is a sport where Tom is fully independent, and does not need to rely on anyone for help. Hand cycling has brought so much independence into Tom's life, which has made this experience so much more then just a sport for him.
Many doctors told Tom he would never walk again, but Tom never stops striving to better himself physically and emotionally. Today Tom is very active. Besides hand cycling, he goes to the gym at least 5 times a week to make sure he keeps his fitness up and build muscle to help him hand cycle.
Tom is an amazing husband, son, and friend to many people. He would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone in need. Tom is a believer in helping people the most when they have hit rock bottom, because he says that he personally knows that is when he needed people the most throughout his long journey.
Please help Tom raise money so he can get a new hand cycle that is made just for him to enhance his abilities and cater to his physical needs of becoming a known competitor in the hand cycling community! I would love for Tom to be able to purchase the bike before the 2019 race season starts up again in the Spring.
