Please Help Thor, the Lava Dog, and his Servants,  escape from our Volcanic Island to the North!

30835070_1529871964530425_r.jpegThings have been very dangerous on the Big Island of Hawai`i lately. We know what is happening here is geologically interesting, but honestly, the giant lava fountains, dangerous gases that make one ill, and constant earthquakes, sometimes as many as 500 in just a few hours, have been unnerving to both man and beast.

As of yesterday, an entire parking lot fell into Kilauea Volcano's Hale ma'u ma'u crater, which is only a mile from our home.  Things are collapsing daily and the range is expanding. Thor, the lava dog, and my mother and I fled across the mountain pass to the other side of the island and have been mostly sleeping in our van and staying in parks. We all want to leave very badly, but we just don't have enough money.

We have found an inexpensive house in the North of the U.S. mainland and want relocate there so that we shall be safe. Please help us with our costs if you are able to!! I am a person who rarely asks anyone for help, but this is a challenging and horrifying situation, and we need your help and would be very grateful for it. The scale of this disaster is immense and there is no end in sight according to geologists who fled themselves to Hilo. The Red Cross and FEMA staff told us they had never seen anything like it, because most disasters are over in a few days, but this one just goes on and on.

If you cannot help us, please take a few moments to share this campaign with someone who can, or send a link to this campaign on your newsletter list. To those who help, thank you! We appreciate it more than we can adequately say, and will be forever grateful if we can make it to the mainland and just be safe again!

Any funds donated will be used to transport my mother, a retired school teacher and librarian, Sharon Fenner, our dog, Thor, and me, and our cultural organization headquarters which we have operated for 7 years, to the mainland, and to help pay for the down payment and closing costs of an inexpensive house we are trying to buy in the northern United States. It is very costly to evacuate and relocate from the Pacific to the mainland of the United States and we are hoping to raise enough money to make it possible for us to reach a safer place.

For those of you who are kind enough to care about our crisis, here is an article I wrote a few days ago. "Odinia on the Edge" https://odinia.org/odinia-on-the-edge/ Since then, there has been a fire right next to our headquarters, one that lasted a week. Fortunately it was put out by the edges of Hurricane Hector passing over it, one disaster cancelling out another... kind of like a cosmic rock, scissor, paper game. The National Park had been unable to contain it, but some volunteers firefighters from California came, and Hector helped, and as of today, it apparently is out.

Kilauea's daily volcanic eruptions and crater collapses continue... the most recent areas covered by lava are Ahalanui Beach Park and Kua o ka La School, and now the highly popular surfing beach and harbour called Pohoiki will apparently be next. At the summit, 4 large steel plates were just added to the only access road to our house, which keeps collapsing, and there seems to be steam coming out of the earth at various places in the subdivision. The picture was taken yesterday 1/10th of a mile from our house. We are not able to move yet because we have not reached our goal, but we are still trying to arrange to have a new, safer, home and headquarters elsewhere, and hope to be able to leave before things get worse, and we are ever so grateful to those of you who have helped us. Thank you!!!! (-:

The road outside our house. There are big trucks that keep filling in the cracks, but they keep widening and there are more after every volcanic eruption. No one can tell me this is not a “premiere adventure destination”! This motivates me to continue fundraising, and asking everyone to donate, share, or give us their extra cement. (-;

Last night, I wrote an article about the ongoing volcanic activity... and our eyewitness view of it. I just added a new video about Kapoho Bay to the article this morning. Here is a link to the article. I hope you enjoy it. https://odinia.org/please-help-lavadog-escape-north/
I am going to attach the video of Kapoho, which shows its crystal clear waters before it was destroyed, to this update. In addition to 700 homes, now even the bay itself, and the reefs are gone..
Thank you to all of you for helping us, for your heavenly kindness. If you can spread the word to anyone else who might help, on your email lists, or on social media, please do! We appreciate it very much!!
