Becky Munyon is a dear friend of mine and a passionate, talented and prolific writer. She has had some difficulty over the past few years, including financial struggles and chronic pain. Her mother passed away last week, and she is still in the throes of grief. She has an opportunity to attend a writer's conference that could really help her career take off.

It's a major conference with opportunities to take classes and schmooze with major authors. You have to apply just to take the masters class, which is $800. There are additional fees for other events at the conference. She applied for the masters class, and a fellowship. She did not get the fellowship, but did get into the class. It would be a great opportunity, but the class fee is prohibitively expensive.
The indomitable Becky, with her gritty sense of humor, told me that her options were "becoming a sex worker, or trying my hand at Go Fund Me." She said that first one might fun to fantasize about, but that some fantasies really ought to stay fantasies. That means that we are going for option B.
Becky isn't just a writer. She's an avid jewelry maker, activist and dedicated cat mommy. She has supported me through some of the most difficult times in my life, and she is counting on her friends to give her the support she deserves now.
