Help the Peltier family

$38,470 of $50,000 goal

A family of 9 has two young children (2 & 4 yrs old) fighting for their lives after getting run over during a high speed chase

Kyle Peltier (a dedicated father and US veteran) was playing with his 7 children on a sunny afternoon while his wife was taking a test. In an instant, he saw his children hit by someone fleeing police at 80mph. Two now face life-threatening injuries - a 2yo in critical condition and a 4yo whose brain is still bleeding.

I don't know the Peltiers (I have since been in contact with them for this fund) but, as a parent, I know the heartbreak that floods you when your child gets even a minor cut or bruise. I know the helplessness that grips you as you watch them sick or in a hospital. Yet I can't even fathom the magnitude of that pain for the Peltiers as their innocent children, in the middle of playing as a family, were run over and now hang on for dear life.

The Peltiers now face hospital bills, the mental toll of a criminal case against the assailant, and potential future implications of any injuries - all while trying to come to terms with this horrible event. Raising a family of 7 is not easy. Medical bills are not cheap (they're the #1 cause of bankruptcy). It seems to me that the simplest and most tangible thing we can do to help this family is to cover as much of their little ones' medical bills as we can.

Let's help the Peltier children as they fight for their lives.

***Please note that all funds go directly to the family. Nicolle and Kyle are the only ones who can withdraw from it, and were given full access on June 13th***

***After making a donation, a  separate drop down bar will appear for a "tip". This additional tip is OPTIONAL and goes to GoFundMe (not the family). If you do not want to tip GoFundMe, simply click “Other” and type “$0" in this tip section***

For those who didn't see Nicolle's update, Kayden is now home from the hospital and he's begun moving his legs! This week doctors will assess whether he can begin to put weight on his hips (the first step toward potentially walking again).

Two quick notes:

1. A huge thanks to the 500+ of you who have reached out directly with messages, donations, thoughts, and prayers. It's truly a testament to the kindheartedness that abounds in this community.

2. Many of you asked how you could help beyond donations (e.g., childcare, professional services) and other topics that are easier as a direct conversation with the family. For these, the Peltiers have setup a separate, public facebook account (they'd prefer to keep email private). You can now message Nicolle at facebook.com/nicolle.peltier.3

Thanks again for all of your support, generosity, kindness, and prayers. It's extremely appreciated.

A difficult update: As mentioned, 2yo Kayden continues to recover – he’s now in a wheelchair and off feeding tubes, but doctors are still uncertain whether he’ll walk again and the extent of his brain injuries. However, Nicole and Kyle have now learned that the baby they’re expecting (Killian) has Omphalocele – a birth defect where the baby’s organs are forming outside of his body.

As you can imagine, this news is difficult on its own. It bears a much heavier weight for this family whose life has suddenly halted and who already have one child with serious injuries (and 6 more processing a traumatic event). Please continue to keep the Peltiers in your thoughts and prayers during this time, and especially with this news.

An encouraging update! Kayden is doing a lot better. He is cleared to be in a wheelchair and eat solid foods. He's also starting to recognize his parents and siblings, remember their names, and is smiling.

An enormous thanks to everyone who has rallied around this family through donation, message, thought, or prayer.
