On March 28, 2019, 11 year old Broderick Burkhart-Thorne lost his young life in a tragic ATV accident in the remote community of Cortes Island, British Columbia.
Broderick is survived by his parents, Misty and Curtis, as well as 4 siblings, who are reeling with the shock of this devastating accident, and the loss of their beloved son, and brother.

The small but vibrant community of Cortes Island has moved quickly to provide immediate support for the Burkhart-Thorne family by setting up a Meal Train campaign . In line with this, we have also set up this campaign to provide immediate and future financial support for the myriad of expenses that will arise.

> Healing and restorative support for the family, including food costs and loss of income
> Funeral costs for Broderick
The Burkhart-Thorne family is coping with a traumatic loss, and they need the energy and support of their community to ease the unbelievable pain they are experiencing. "A family member and a neighbour found him pinned underneath an off-road vehicle on Thursday, said Cpl. Sean Bulford of the Quadra Island RCMP detachment, which is responsible for Cortes Island.
“By the time he was found – they went looking for him, and he was deceased,” said Bulford."
