Unfortunately Ted died in Queen Alexandra Hospital on the 13th May 2018, he died without a will or savings. The council have said they will pay for a pauper's funeral with no headstone or marker. The only record of him would be a number in a book! I have known Ted for a long time and I and all of his friends think he deserves better than that!

Ted was a very well known person in Fareham, mostly due to his work with Fareham Borough Council as a worker on roads and signs.

He was born in the house where he spent his entire life apart from
when he did his National Service in the RAF from 1954 to 1956. During this time he served in the Suez Canal Zone.

Ted was a keen Portsmouth Football Club supporter who loved nothing more than attending home games at Fratton. As a season ticket holder he was a well known face in the crowd, who never missed a match.
This was as well as one of his favourite past times that of being a cricket umpire.

Starting from his time in the RAF he was a stalwart supporter of both    the local Royal British Legion and Royal Air Force Association (RAFA).

During my time as a Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Organiser in Fareham.  Ted  loved to get stuck in and help, however he was  very possessive of both his tray and his spot!
Just outside Bonne Marche (who used to supply him with endless cups of tea and coffee) was his chosen place to sell poppies. He was also very proud of his particular tray and he could always tell if you gave him the wrong one!

Ted was loved by everybody and there were many people who would only buy a poppy from him.

This from The News, Portsmouth.
Local sport, long standing soccer supporters and, more specifically, members of the Fareham Branch of the Royal British Legion, will be saying their farewells to an 'Ambassador for Fareham' Ted Burridge at a funeral service at St John’s Church, St Michael’s Grove, Fareham (at its junction with Redlands Lane) this Friday (June 1) at 11.15.   Off-street car parking.
Those attending are being encouraged to wear a Pompey football shirt or maybe with a poppy emblazoned tie, or even RAF memorabilia, anything that would reflect Ted’s passion for these entities.
Ted’s enormously active life in local sport, be it cricket, darts, and football, the RAF and his unstinting loyalty to the annual Poppy Day Appeal will be remembered afterwards at the Duke of Connaught Club, Western Road, Fareham, PO16 0NS.

We need the funds to help pay for the funeral desperately. Donations will be gratefully received either via the GoFundMe website or to
Mike Homer who can be contacted via the GoFundMe website.
