Shawn Jones, Nomad's General Manager, and Vancouver's beloved industry treasure, was seriously injured on October 7th while walking on Main Street (near King Ed) after work.
In a blurry recollection of events, Shawn remembers being accused by a stranger of 'almost bumping into him'. Shawn was alone, and this man became extremely hostile and pushed her from behind. He left the scene.
Heartbreakingly, Shawn fell face-first into the sidewalk, cracking four of her teeth, smashing her eye socket, fracturing her skull, and leaving her concussed. She was taken by ambulance to VGH, where she spent the night.
Shawn has been ambitious in trying to get back on her feet, but she is dealing with PTSD and suffering from some pretty severe anxiety. On top of this, the accident is coming at a financial cost (as if the physical and emotional cost isn't damaging enough).
Shawn's teeth (three of which are dead) will need major reconstruction, with estimated costs beginning at $6000. She has already been off work for two weeks, but is trying to wean back into the schedule in the next week or so (thank you to Nomad for being so supportive through this all). Shawn will need additional time off for dental surgery and procedures in the upcoming weeks/months.
Shawn's new medical plan (as she is a new employee at Nomad) did not come into effect until just a few days ago, and therefore this incident classifies as pre-existing, and she is not covered for any of the dental procedures.

Shawn is facing every day with an effort to keep moving forward, but she is dealing with PTSD and struggling with some severe anxiety. Where we can help is by supporting her in the suffocating costs of her dental work. PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY!
