Help Small Businesses- Delmar Loop

Donation protected

Last night, more than 23 businesses (final count still unconfirmed) were vandalized by an aggressive group of vandals marching through the streets.

With what started out as a peaceful protest, last night's actions turned destructive when window after window were broken by rocks and bricks. Trash can lids were hurled through the business windows and looters stole items from the stores.

The businesses in the Delmar Loop are not multimillion dollar corporations.  These are regular people, just like you and me. These are small, family-owned businesses with extremely hard-working individuals who did not deserve to have their property destroyed last night.

As the cleanup continues, some of the business owners will need help covering the cost of their deductibles for insurance claims, paying to board up and secure the businesses, replacing the sheets of glass (which are very expensive), paying additional expense  for employee overtime to clean the glass that has shattered within the businesses, and to thoroughly clean the streets of all debris from the destruction.

As a business owner in the Delmar Loop, I know how personally upsetting this destruction has been to all of our neighbors in the business district, and to our friends throughout St. Louis.

That is why my goal is to the help the businesses owners in the Delmar Loop cover some of these unexpected costs - that insurance will either not cover or for businesses who may have been uninsured or underinsured to pay for the repairs needed to rebuild and clean up the individual businesses and business district.
