11 Year-old Shakaya was burnt in an accident a few months ago and is now forced to wear a compression suit to help the burns heal.

Her grandmother, who is her guardian and a volunteer at the Dondingalong RFS brigade, just west of Kempsey on the NSW Mid North Coast, has to regularly drive her to Westmead hospital for treatment to her burns.

That’s a return journey of 850 kilometres

Given the hot weather and the fact the car is old and has no air conditioning, the compression suits makes travelling unbearably hot.

I am asking for help from our community to buy Shakaya's grandmother and legal guardian Jacqui a new car with air conditioning to make the trip for Shakaya bearable.

It is hard enough trying to recover from devastating burns, without having to travel hundreds of kilometres in a rickety old car that makes the journey more torturous.
