Age is just a number! Adopt a Senior dog!

Donation protected
Buffy and Amos are getting married!  Buffy and Amos are senior dogs who met on the Internet ... a modern day love story!  They are using their union to raise awareness for the plight of senior dogs in shelters.

Buffy, while technically not a senior when she was adopted at 6 years old, is now 13.  Even though Buffy now has trouble getting around due to arthritis, she still has a lot of spunk and appetite for snacks!  She knows there are lots of pups just like her waiting to find their furever homes.

Buffy - 2011 vs 2019

Amos, now 10, had a very difficult life. He was left at a kill shelter in Tecate, Mexico with a severe eye infection, tick borne disease, rotten teeth ,and other ailments. But then Amos' luck finally changed for the better. An angel named Miss Laura saved him. She took care of his medical needs and eventually got him to a rescue in San Diego. And that's where Miss Mom (as Amos calls her) started his happily ever after.

Buffy and Amos have selected four no-kill rescues which do so much to help save and care for senior dogs! They are the rescues from where Buffy and Amos were adopted as well as the rescues from where their fur siblings were adopted! All are registered 501(c)(3).

100% off all funds raised will be split equally among the four rescues. Proof of donations will be posted when donations are made.

Buffy's Rescue  - Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (Capon Bridge, WV) - AHGRRS takes in senior or "special needs" goldens, golden mixes, and other breeds (as space permits) from shelters and owner surrenders. It is a refuge for those who otherwise may be labeled "hard to adopt" or "unadoptable" by ordinary standards. Some of their residents are only with them until they become well enough to be adopted, while others will receive love and care at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives.

Amos' Rescue - Labs and More (San Diego, CA) - Labs and More Rescue is Southern California’s fastest growing and most active dog rescue. Their volunteers work to rescue over 1,300 dogs each year finding them furever homes in and around San Diego. In just 8 short years, their volunteers have worked to give hope to over 8,800 dogs in need of a chance at life. These rescued dogs were often on their last day of life in a shelter, on the streets, or abandoned by their owners.

Blair (Amos' sister)'s rescue - Frosted Faces Foundation (San Diego, CA) - Frosted Faces is dedicated to senior dogs. They develop solutions to ensure all of the senior animals that cross their path have a family and proper veterinary care. They rescue senior animals and rehome them, offer financial assistance to senior pet owners, and board senior dogs at an inexpensive rate while providing excellent care.

Freddy (Buffy's brother)'s rescue - Friends of Homeless Animals (Aldie, VA) - While FOHA is an all-age rescue, they run a senior care program which waives the adoption fee for any dog 8 and over. They also offer up to $1,500 in reimbursable medical expenses after the dogs are adopted to alleviate any financial concerns that often come when adopting a senior pet.  The longest residents of FOHA have their own mini houses which while no substitute for an actual house, allows them a bit more freedom than a typical kennel run. FOHA is in its 46th year of saving dogs and cats and was the first no-kill shelter in Virginia.

About Us
GoFundMe has asked we share a bit more information about us and our campaign. We are 100% transparent, so have no issue sharing this information.

1. Who we are.
Our names our Tara and Molly and we met through the Instagram dog community. We decided to host a virtual wedding on Instagram between our senior dogs to help raise awareness to the plight of senior dogs in shelters. The GoFundMe is their wedding registry.
You can find more about it on Instagram:  @buffsandfluffs, @adventures_with_amos, or the hashtag #AmosSeniorBuffair.  We also created a website: buffyandamos.com.

2. Where you're from
Tara lives in Northern VA. Molly lives in Southern CA.

3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for.
Our dogs came from the rescues to which the funds will be benefiting. Tara also volunteers at Friends of Homeless Animals.

4. How the funds will be used (be specific as possible)
As stated above, we selected four 501(c)(3) animal rescues which would be the beneficiaries of the "wedding registry": Almost Heaven Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary (Capon Bridge, VA), Labs and More (San Diego, CA), Frosted Faces Foundation (San Diego, CA), and Friends of Homeless Animals (Aldie, VA). They all help senior dogs and will be able to use the funds where they find the most need.  Whether that is vet care, food, or helping support families keep their senior pets in the home will be at their discretion.

5. If you intend to withdraw the money, how you plan to send the funds to the parties you're raising money for or use the money on their behalf.
Yes, we will be withdrawing the money as GoFundMe does not allow funds to be sent directly between multiple charities. We will be making donations through each rescue's on-line donation page. Once this is done, we will post the donation receipts showing the full amount was donated, being split equally.
