Washington Tech Wind Energy Team

We need your help.

The last six weeks we have been working hard on building a homemade wind turbine that could generate the most power.  On Saturday, April 15th we competed at the Minnesota Renewable Energy Challenge.  We were judged on the amount of electricity our turbine produced, innovation of design, documentation of the design process, team knowledge of the wind industry, and an instant challenge, where we had to build a mini wind device to lift as many washers possible.

We took first place in the instant challenge and 2nd place overall.  With the 2nd place finished we earned an invite to the Kid Wind National Competition at the American Wind Energy Association national conference in Anaheim, California on May 24 and 25th, 2017 to compete against the winners from other states.

With such short notice of this unexpected opportunity we need help funding our trip so that all eight team members and our coach can experience this awesome opportunity.

Your donation will help pay for our airfare and hotel stay in California.  Any extra money will help with other costs of the trip, like food.

Your generosity means that we will be able to travel to Anaheim, California, with our coach and spend two days setting up and testing our wind turbine, talking with other schools who are competing, talking with colleges, and meeting professionals in the wind energy industry.  We also will have open access to the convention floor to explore all of the new exciting technologies in the wind industry.

Thank you for helping us make this once in a lifetime opportunity a reality.

A $50 donation will pay for one night in a hotel for one student.
