Hi everyone! I am thrilled to share with you that I will be interning this summer with the US Government Accountability Office in Washington, D.C.!
What is the GAO? The GAO is an independent, non-partisan agency that monitors how Congress spends taxpayer dollars. My role will be within the Congressional Relations department, which means I will be busy tracking legislation and attending meetings on the Hill. This is a paid internship, but it's not enough to cover my expenses while I'm out there, which is why I need your help! Unfortunately, my school doesn’t offer financial aid for out-of-state internships, and I am out of other funding options at this point. To make up for that, I have been working as much as I can, juggling 3 jobs and school (and final exams) to help save and make ends meet. Donations will be strictly used for my housing expenses.
Why DC? It has been my dream to work in DC after law school and this internship offers the possibility of a permanent offer after graduation - which is why it’s such a great opportunity! Everything about the area interests me - the history, the hustle and bustle, and the fact that there’s always something new to learn!
What will YOU get out of donating? While I can’t promise really cool gifts like Trump’s autograph or White House souvenirs, I’d like to maintain contact with everyone throughout the summer to provide updates and share interesting/fun stories. Any donation amount is immensely appreciated, and I am blessed just to be given this opportunity at all. At the very least, I promise to pay it forward and take you all out for a really nice dinner when I’m making the big bucks as an attorney. :)
