Help Scott Begin Again

After the devastation of Hurricane Maria, life changed dramatically for Scott, who was living in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. Despite months of no power or water, no work, and scarce provisions, he gathered together his limited resources and focused on repairing his sailboat, taking care of his dogs, and planning his return to the US mainland, where family, friends, and job opportunities await him.   

After months of readying his boat for the  journey from Puerto Rico to St. Augustine, a storm in the Caribbean left him without power or a GPS and Scott was ultimately shipwrecked on the island of Abaco in the Bahamas.


What Scott needs now is get himself, his dogs, and the belongings that he could salvage from the wreck, on a charter to St. Augustine. He will also need help with rebuilding his life since he is now homeless and without means until he can work again.  He also needs to hire a salvage company to remove the wreckage from the beach and to repay in some way the generous hospitality and kindness the Bahamian people have shown him since his landing.  We are estimating that all the costs associated with this will be at least $2,000
