Help Save Life of My Dear Friend’s Only Child

Donation protected
I am setting up this fundraiser for my dear friend Battuya and her son. My friend is facing the greatest challenge in her life, insurmountable without your help. Her only child Ganpurev has just been diagnosed with acute leukemia at age 25. He is currently at HeBei YanDa Lu Daopei Hospital in Beijing, China.

A little bit about me and my friend
I know Battuya since we were 16. She’s been a dearest friend ever since, no matter where and what type of whirlwind of adventures I happen to be going through, she is the one who has always been there for me.

I am very proud of my friend. She is a prominent dentist in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. She helped set up a cutting-edge dental clinic “Dental Group” in Ulaanbaatar and has been working there since 2000. I have always recommended her clinic to all my family members and friends, which is a testimony to its outstanding quality.

A sudden and tragic turn in my friend’s life
The first week of April 2019, my friend’s son Ganpurev started feeling unwell. Mongolian doctors advised them to go to a hospital in China for further analyses. As recommended, they went to HeBei YanDa Lu Daopei Hospital in Beijing, China and did additional analyses. The diagnoses came out as acute leukemia. (please see below the hospital diagnosis letter.)

The hospital recommended Ganpurev to stay and start the treatment right away, to beat the time against this life-threatening illness. My friend had to make a quick decision to let her son remain at the hospital and start the treatment. As of April 10th 2019, Ganpurev began receiving the first round of chemotherapy.

The hospital informed that his treatment would cost US$ 255.000 in total. (please see the hospital letter that states this sum along with a treatment plan and payment phases.) This amount should be paid in 4-5 major installments. With help from her colleagues, my friend managed to pay the first installment, which enabled the hospital to start the treatment immediately. Her son is reacting positively to the treatment and has already improved significantly. The doctors say that his illness is treatable if he continues receiving the treatment systematically and on time.

More about Ganpurev
My friend’s only son Ganpurev is an incredibly gifted, very talented, and just a lovely young man. Following in his mother’s footsteps, he decided to become a doctor. He is in his 5th year at the Mongolian National University of Medical Science, studying to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. In addition to being an exemplary student, he is known for his musical talents at the university. His beautiful singing voice coupled with his abilities to play guitar, drum, and piano do not go unnoticed among friends and peers. Above all, he is simply a kind-hearted person. He runs free music lessons for his peers and fellow students at the Mongolian National University of Medical Science. He established a live music band “Healers.” Healers have been entertaining the students and faculty of the university and youth in Ulaanbaatar for several years.

More on the treatment plan and Where your money will go
All her friends, families, and many other good-hearted Mongolians are trying their ultimate best in Mongolia to raise this money. Yet it is an amount too great for us to reach. I can’t sit and do nothing and watch this extraordinary young man die.

Getting treated in Mongolia with this diagnosis is not even an option. Seeking medical treatment abroad, in China precisely due to its closeness and logistical ease is the best choice. Most importantly, Ganpurev's treatment has already begun with very positive and impressive results. We need to continue and finish this treatment; however, this enormous effort won’t succeed without your generous help.

As outlined in the treatment plan provided by the hospital (see below), the total cost is US$ 255,000, which must be paid in the following major installments:

1.     First installment: $20,000. This payment was made and enabled the first round of chemotherapy which is currently underway.

2.     Second installment: $25,000. Battuya’s friends, colleagues, and families are working day and night to raise money. They are on track to raise this amount and make this payment.

3.     Third installment: $120,000. This payment must be paid to enable the hospital to go ahead with BMT (bone marrow transplantation) process. In addition, at least $22,000 or more may be necessary for this stage (please see page 2 of the treatment plan). So, approximately, $140,000 will be needed for the BMT.

4.     Fourth installment: $40,000. This is an approximate figure and it may grow up to $60,000 depending on the needs of post BMT and follow-up processes. A voluntary association of Battuya’s friends in Mongolia is working vigorously to raise this amount and hope that they will succeed by the time when this payment becomes necessary.

From the bottom of my heart, I am asking you to donate to save this wonderful young man's life. I start with a goal to raise $50,000, but the ultimate goal is to raise the $140,000 – the third installment, the amount that must be available in the pipeline by the end of May 2019. However, any amount you are able to contribute will help.

I guarantee that 100% of your donation will go to Ganpurev’s treatment cost. I will follow and record every single contribution and report back to you all here on this page.

Thank you for your kindness.

PS: due to the size of the photos accepted only half of the hospital documents got uploaded. Apologies about this.
