Help save Ginger the rescue pony
Ginger is a very special horse. She has a gentle soul and loves her job as a therapy horse. In the last 4 years since we rescued her, she has selflessly provided countless hours of therapy to so many people with disabilities in our community. In 2017 she was nominated as North Carolina's Special Olympics Horse of the year. Our goal is to continue her journey in helping others. Ginger has fallen critically ill and after 30 days, 4 vets, and multiple medications, we have finally received an accurate diagnosis. Ginger has right dorsal colitis and unfortunately this late diagnosis requires immediate and expensive medical intervention. Ginger is in desperate need of a plasma transfusion and without one she will not have a fighting chance at recovery. Please share Ginger's story and help us raise the funds needed for her treatment and recovery.+ Read More
Because of all of the generous donations we received, Ginger was able to compete again at the N.C. Special Olympics Equestrian Tournament. Ginger is 100% back to her old self and feeling good again! She spent the summer with her new pasture buddy Titan and our special athletes preparing for the competition. The show was a huge success and I am so thankful that Ginger was able to continue our tradition for another year.
To all Ginger’s fans and supporters, I apologize for the delayed update. The last 6 months have been a roller coaster with Ginger’s health and she’s had a few bumps in the road. To help with her recovery and loneliness, she got a new buddy named Titan! He’s definitely helped her along the way in lifting her spirits and keeping her company. I’m happy to report that Ginger and Titan have both started Special Olympics training and will attend the state show in September! Everyone who donated and shared her story made this journey possible for Ginger. I’m forever grateful.
Ginger had another vet check this week and her blood work showed more improvement. Her protein levels are almost completely back to normal and she continues to regain the weight that was lost. She will have another check up in 2 weeks and I'll keep everyone posted on the results. Thank you all for the love and support. This story will have a happy ending.
Ginger had the vet check her yesterday and blood work was run. The results are in and the vet was pleased with her progress. She will continue to have regular check ups for now. Overall her demeanor is back to normal, she is eating, drinking, and has had a normal temperature all week! I'm so thankful that she is getting back to her old self and obviously feeling better. I can't thank you all enough for your generosity and support. Ginger is making a comeback because of all of you!
