Help Roots Charter High School

Roots Charter High School is a High School with an urban farm. On our farm we raise livestock and vegetables.  More than that we educate students who are disengaged with the traditional education model.  We give them daily experiences unlike anything available in Utah. Running a farm and a school has many challenges. Our students are facing one of the biggest farm challenges they have had to face up to this point; the unnecessary loss of livestock to a stray dog.  Over the last week, 8 of our animals have been attacked resulting in the deaths of two sheep and two goats.  

The animals at Roots are student owned.  Each student has a loan for the animal and they use their own time and money to care for the animals until they are sold.  The loss of the animal does not mean there is a loss of the debt.  Through the generosity of friends and family, we are hoping to replace each animal lost so the students may continue their educational project.  We are also looking to raise funds to purchase two llamas that will act as herd protectors so that this incident doesn't happen again. 
Funds will be used, in order of priority:
1. Replace all student animals
2. Cover vet costs incurred by the school for the injured animals
3. Purchase herd protecting animals to keep other livestock safe
