Quick Update for transparency.
Some of you might wonder why the campaign now says "on behalf of Julian Lynch". Julian Lynch is my good friend, who is helping me withdraw the donations through his account, as he is  an American Citizen with an American Bank Account, and I couldn't setup withdrawal to my Danish account. Love Thomas

My art and belief.
My name is Thomas Dambo, and I'm a Danish artist with a great passion for making interactive art installations, and recycling. This is why I have dedicated my life to being a recycle artist, making huge projects out of recycled waste all over the world. With my work I wish to inspire the people of our planet to rethink their relation to trash, and see it as a valuable resource, which potentially can help make your dreams come true.

Hector El Protector
In 2014 I travelled to the beautiful Island of Culebra in Puerto Rico with my friends from Denmark, to make a project for local street art festival Culebra Es Ley. With the support of the locals, from broken pallets, we created a troll sitting on the rocks of the shore with a huge rock in his hand, protecting the island and its people from bad energies.

We named the troll “Hector el Protector”, and he became the first of more than 40 wooden troll sculptures I have since made all over the world.

"Scavenging pallets in the local landfill of Culebra".

The troll and the hurricane

"Alexis Bousquets, who first organized for me to make Hector, on Culebras relation to the sculpture."

In 2017 the Hurricane Maria hit Culebra and the rest of Puerto Rico with a huge force, and destroyed a lot of the island's housing and infrastructure together with “Hector el Protector” who disappeared into the ocean.

After the hurricane settled, and electricity was back on the island a broad variety of people started writing me to tell what “Hector el Protector” had meant to them. They wrote me how they missed the sculpture, and that it had become a strong symbol to their community, and they wish to have him return. A couple of people even wrote me that they believe that the sculpture was actually protecting the island spiritually, and was the reason that Culebra had zero casualties during the hurricane. A group of fishermen had gone looking for him, and had found a piece of Hector el Protector in the waters close to the island.

"the remains of Hector located by local fishermen"

The people of Puerto Rico have been receiving me and my art with a lot of love and hospitality, and I feel an emotional connection to the people and to Hector el Protector.

Because of this I really want to go back and raise an even stronger and more beautiful version of “Hector el Protector”, and I am willing to invest the time, skills and positive energy of myself and my crew. But flying my crew from Denmark to Culebra and staying on the island with housing and food for two weeks  is expensive. Therefore I have decided to make this gofundme campaign, trying to cover the expenses and making the rebuilding project a reality. I have an open window between projects in the first two weeks of February, so I really hope to hit the goal before 20th of January, so I can work out all the details!

How to help
There are many different ways to support this project. A great one is of course to donate here through Gofundme.com helping the economic foundation.

Another possibility is to help me and the crew with food, housing, tools, volunteer work, transportation etc while we are hopefully rebuilding the sculpture in february 2019. For any such inquiries please write to hector@thomasdambo.com  All sponsors will of course be announced here in the campaign.

Even the smallest donations counts, money, love, high fives or spiritual support. it is all about bringing the energies together, and hopefully rebuild Hector el Protector in his beautiful home of Culebra.

And oh yeah, PLEASE SHARE!!

Much Love
