My husband Ray and I met over 11 years ago, and since then we've had 2 wonderful girls, lived in 2 states, moved across country twice, held 12 jobs between the two of us (at one point my husband held 3 jobs at once!), and have worked to build a fulfilling life for ourselves. It's been a crazy busy adventure, and I've enjoyed walking this road with my husband! However, the year before we met, my husband experienced a significant set back.
Ever since he was little, he dreamed of being a pilot. He participated in ACE camp (aviation career education), and won a free flight, which just solidified his desire to fly. He dreamed of being a missionary pilot, and when the time came to go to college, he applied and went for aviation. He loved it, but some problems at home, and a sudden change of professors disrupted his momentum, and he never got it back. He spent the next 12 years trying to find a new dream, a new purpose, a new future. He pursued other interests, but nothing seemed to fit the bill and he longed to go back for aviation. Every time, it was finances that got in the way.
Aviation is not a cheap field to go in to, and at this point he already had school loans to pay back, then a family to provide for, a home to take care of,...life continued on and it seemed like the door had shut on aviation.
Recently, he found an accelerated program that could get him his commercial license in 6-9months, and the dream was reignited once again!
I would LOVE to be able to help him make his dream a reality this time! I don't think money should be an issue. We have a large network of family and friends, and there is nothing more exciting than being a part of something big, like making someone's dream a reality. The funds I am asking for will be to cover the cost of instructional flight hours, a grounds test, admission into various aviation organizations (which should help open doors and opportunities, including for scholarships!), the medical exam, and other extraneous expenses needed to obtain his private pilots license. Obviously this is just a first step and if people's generosity is abundant, I may raise our goal to cover expenses towards obtaining his commercial license...but to get it all started, he needs that PPL (Private pilots license).
PLEASE consider donating and helping me bless him with this start on his dream! We would both be so grateful and maybe someday you'll be on one of his flights and you can say, "Oh, Captain Hutchinson? I know him! I helped him become a pilot!"
