Help Rafa&Son Move Out Abusive Home

My good friend Rafa and her 8 year old son John need to move out of their emotionally abusive home. They currently live in an apartment in the Bronx where Rafa has to support multiple family members who do not help her in return. There is no room for her or her son to grow because any money she makes is manipulated out of her for their benefit. She was working for a while at a rock climbing gym uptown but decided to stop work in protest of her brother and mother's abusive behavior towards her - always asking for her money and yelling at her. This environment is toxic for her son to grow up in. He's already showing signs of anger and rebellion. Rafa is an amazing community organizer, working with urban-feminist collective Smart Girl Club, founded by rapper Princess Nokia, and organizing underground metal shows in the Bronx. She works very hard to fight gentrification and create safe spaces for fellow young mothers in the Bronx.  

Rafa is looking for an apartment for her and John in the Bronx. The cheaper the better. We've accounted for it being around $800 a month. She also needs a residency card which is $450. She only spends about $60 a week for food between her and John. 

$4000 will give Rafa 3 months rent while she tries to find an affordable apartment, steady job, money to get her residence card, and enough money to get food for her and John for two months.

Rafa is working as many odd jobs as she can right now, such as cleaning and doing hair, but it's not enough to support her and her son. Please consider donating to someone who is a vital part of the community in the Bronx and NYC. Help her and her son create a healthier, more stable home.
