HELP PCSO DEPUTY ADAM PENNELL

My name is Kristi Costine and I am a good friend of Christin and Adam. This is Adam's Story:
On October 29, 2016, Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Adam Pennell was critically injured in the line of duty. At 12:34 a.m., 25-year-old Deputy Sheriff Pennell, was enroute to a call for service when he saw an adult female standing in the grass median.
Deputy Pennell stopped his patrol car, activated his emergency lights, and got out of the car to talk to her. He learned that she had run off the roadway and struck a tree and he called for EMS. While waiting for EMS to arrive, an unknown vehicle heading westbound entered the median and struck them both, and then fled the scene, killing Jessica Enchautegui-Otero of Tampa, Florida, and seriously injuring Deputy Pennell. He sustained a broken pelvis, shattered hip, broken ribs, bruised lungs and an injury to his shoulder.
On November 1, 2016, Adam underwent surgery to repair his hip. Since then, he has remained in the Trauma ICU, on a ventilator, placed in a rotoprone bed (to improve his oxygenation) and in a medically induced coma. He is beginning to make improvements but it is a slow process.
On November 3, 2016, the coward responsible for the accident was arrested.
Adam's beautiful wife Christin is also a Deputy Sheriff with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and has faithfully stayed by his side. She is currently taking a leave of absence from her job and is not being paid. In addition, she is now burdened with paying for her own health insurance completely out of pocket, at the cost of $700 per month. Not to mention the the future medical expenses for Adam's care, in addition to their regular expenses.

There are numerous financial challenges ahead for this heroic couple who put their lives on the line for you and I everyday. Adam will endure a lengthy and difficult recovery but he is a fighter and can do it. We just need to help them!!!
