Help Miss Sue Pay Mr Mark's Funeral

My father, Mark Swiss, was known to "Mr. Mark" to hundreds of people in the Rosedale suburb of Baltimore, from his work as a baseball coach, program coordinator, and neighborhood leader.

Dad died last month. What he left Mom was...debt. She just learned that the life insurance policy he had taken out to cover final expenses will not pay if the the insured dies in the first two years.
He was a disabled Vietnam veteran. Health problems from Agent Orange exposure eventually limited his ability to work. While he was finally able to get some VA compensation, it did not make up for the years of work he missed.
He went through bankruptcy a few years ago, and was just starting to get clear when he died.My mother now faces thousands of dollars in funeral expenses, plus the loss of Dad's VA payments, plus debt he had taken out in both their names (since he had no credit) falling on her. While she may be eligable for a smaller survivor's benefit from the VA, we don't know yet and it will take time to find out. We also don't know if the VA will cover Dad's extensive out-of-network medical bills from the past year.
My mom -- known in her own right to hundreds of people in Rosedale as "Miss Sue" for being a volunteer and neighborhood mom -- lost her husband of 49 years. Now she needs your help to pay Dad's funeral expenses and to pay the bills so she can stay in the house they shared since 1973.
This comes on top of my mother's nearly fatal illness, which put her in the ICU and then rehab from last September through January. Financially, emotionally, in every way, we are just drained.
Please. Please, please, if you can, help a wonderful lady memorialize a wonderful man.
