Help Mike get back on his two legs

On March 22nd, Mike began a journey into an exciting career path, training in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a new restaurant opening. Three hours into his first shift, in what can only be described as a freak accident, he ruptured both of his quadriceps. Although this injury was significant, it quickly turned catastrophic.
Due to a delayed diagnosis and care plan, Mike developed compartment syndrome . Within 48 hours an emergency fasciotomy was performed and 8”-10” incisions were made on the inside and outside of both of his thighs in an attempt to release excessive pressure and save his legs. Those incisions remain open, and Mike continues to fight to keep both of his legs.
Mike has a LONG and uncertain recovery ahead. It will be at least 30 days before he can be medically transported to a facility closer to his home and family in Wisconsin. He may never work in the restaurant industry again - an industry he's worked in for 10+ years - due to the likelihood that he will have permanent physical limitations as a result of this injury.
Because Mike's hospitalization and rehabilitation will be lengthy, he will be out of work for quite some time - possibly up to a year or longer. In spite of workers' compensation covering most of the medical costs, there are non-covered expenses as well as ongoing financial obligations (student loans, etc.) These expenses are continuous and without an income, they will quickly exhaust his and his family’s resources. While it’s hard to determine exactly how much assistance will be needed at this stage of the process, these costs have become a concern.
