Help Megan Heal -Tragic Accident

$19,633 of $100,000 goal

Raised by 261 people in 9 months
We see these stories on the news everyday and pray everyone is okay. You hope this never happens to you or someone you love. Then one evening the phone rings and it’s that call.

On Friday September 7th, 2018 my beautiful daughter Megan was involved in a horrific car accident. She was headed home from work heading west; when out of nowhere a young man traveling at an excessive rate of speed heading east lost control of his car. He slid off the road, crossed the divided highway and hit Megan head on. With no time to react her car was decimated. Changing her life and ours forever.

Megan is a wonderful Daughter and such a devoted Mother of two beautiful young Daughters’.  She works very hard to provide for these girls. She is always on the run with gymnastics for both girls, softball for both of them as well as cheerleading for the oldest. Of course they are never at the same time or place. Throw in school and work, it leaves little time for much else.  Now with the accident, Megan is unable to do all of these things she loves to do with her girls.

Megan is in critical condition and in a medically induced coma. She sustained a serious head injury, collapsed lung, lacerated spleen, 7 broken ribs (R+L),2  fractured vertebrae, fractured sternum, multiple broken bones including; left femur, right femur( multiple locations), right tibia/right fibula, multiple bones in her right foot, right humerus /left humerus, left ulna, and left radius. All these injury's will require multiple surgery's.

She will be hospitalized for many months with rehabilitation and a lengthy recovery. As you can imagine the other drivers insurance will not cover all of the costs. There are also the day to day costs for the girls and the monthly bills just don’t stop. We are asking for your thoughts and prayers along with any emotional and financial assistance you can give Megan and her family.

We will continue to keep you updated on Megan's journey to recovery.

Hello Family and Friends, we hope that everyone is doing well. I know that it has been awhile since I gave you all an update.
Megan continues to improve all the time. The road now is just a little bit slower. Physically she is doing great. Walking all over without any type of assistance. She has not been able to have the additional surgeries that she needs on her arms yet so she is still pretty limited on some of the tasks she can do. She can feed herself with extended tools and brush her hair with an extended brush. It is very frustrating for her to not be able to do the daily things that we all take for granted. Her memory is improving also. She is still having a lot of trouble remembering things but it getting better all the time. That's all we can hope for is that she continues to improve. The worst memory deficient is with her short term memory. She cannot recall what happened earlier in the day or yesterday a lot of the time. She can tell you what happened 10 years ago. One of the most difficult things for us as her support group is trying to understand how her brain is working at times. She can rattle off answers to crossword puzzles, do word searches and other mind games yet she doesn't comprehend that she still has memory problems. She needs more time to heal and more rehab to get better but she doesn't see it that way. She thinks she is at 100% and ready to resume her old life. It's so hard to see her struggling with this. I pray constantly that God heals her completely so that she can once again have a normal life. We did get her on the Brain Injury Waiver program but are still working on Medicaid and Social Security. It has definitely been a drawn out process that is taking months. I think we are almost there though.
We want to thank everyone for the continues prayers and support. Please continue to share her Go Fund Me page with everyone so they get the updates. If you which to send her a card or flowers they can be sent to:

Hello Family and Friends, we hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is off to a great new year. We have been very busy. Megan is improving nicely. She was moved on Christmas Eve to a rehabilitation hospital closer to home so that all her family and friends could spend more time with her and help her with her rehabilitation. It is so nice to have her closer to home so we can see her more often. She is doing well with her therapies. She can walk almost 200 feet with her walker before getting tired and needing to rest. She is starting to feed herself with special utensils. All of her wounds are feeling up nicely. She goes back to the orthopedic doctor tomorrow for a followup and hopefully he will be able to tell us when she can have the additional surgery on her arms to help them bend better. Her memory is improving also. She is still have a lot of trouble remembering things but it getting better all the time. That's all we can hope for is that she continues to improve.
We want to thank everyone for the continues prayers and support. Please continue to share her Go Fund Me page with everyone, even if you have already donated we ask that you share her page so others can see it. If you which to send her a card or flowers they can be sent to:

The one bad thing that I forgot to mention earlier in the post is that we found out that the other driver had no insurance and Megan only carried a small uninsured policy. So that is unfortunate for all the bills that are starting to come in. We are in the process of trying to get her on the Brain Injury Waiver program here in Kansas and also on Medicaid. They are a drawn out process that can take months to do. Hopefully all goes well. Wish us luck on these processes.

Hello family and friends, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We have a lot to be thankful for. God has let us hold on to Megan for a while longer. Megan is doing ok. She continues to improve but not as speedily as we had hoped she would but that is ok. As long as she is fighting to get better we will all be fighting right there beside her.
There are 10 levels of recovery on a brain injury. It is known as the Rancho scale, with 10 being the best. Megan is currently at a 4. She is very agitated, uncooperative and upset a lot. This is all part of the stage that she is in. They say she will work her way through this. I sure hope so. It's heartbreaking to see her like this. She does not understand why she has to be in the hospital. She is still has no short term memory so she forgets whether she has even eaten or done her therapy. She believes in her head that she is all back to normal and should be able to walk out of the hospital and resume her life. Unfortunately that is no way near the truth. We are still looking at months of rehab just to teach her to take care of herself and feed herself. Her prognosis for ever living on her own is not very high. She will probably have to live with us for the rest of her life. We don't mind at all of course. We would do anything for her. I know that is not the way she had her life planned out and that makes me sad. Our beautiful independent daughter as lost the choices to control her own live like most of us get to enjoy.
Please continue to keep her in your prayers. We pray the God will heal her completely and speedily. If you have the ability to help her out financially that is much appreciated also. Every donation helps no matter how big or small.
If you have an extra Christmas you could put in the mail to her that would be great also. Lets show her how much she is loved! Send them to her at
