Help medical students divert food waste!

We are a group of medical students at Boston University who are looking to go green by diverting our food waste from landfills.
In the United States, 40% of food is thrown away uneaten. Most of this food waste ends up in landfills, where it decomposes and releases methane, a greenhouse gas 30X more potent than carbon dioxide. This process is a major contributor to climate change. In Boston, climate change is projected to put whole neighborhoods at increased risk of disease and displacement due to flooding and extreme weather. As medical students, we owe it to our future patients to mitigate our impact on climate change and its negative effects on health.
Currently, our Medical Student Residence has no food waste diversion strategies, despite these options being available elsewhere on campus. After organizing a petition with over 113 medical student signatures of support, we proposed a partnership with Save That Stuff to collect our food waste and process it into an efficient biofuel. Save That Stuff has agreed to collect and process food waste from our entire 208-person residence for only $30 per week, starting 12/1/2018. In order to make this a reality, we need your help. Your contribution is a commitment to the health of the planet and our future patients!
$30 - one week of food waste diversion for 208 students
$15 - divert food waste from one apartment for one whole year
$10 - one week of service for 70 students
$5 - one week for 35 students
