CDIFF/Medical Bills/Crohns

I don't know what more to say, I didn't think it would come to this.... I caught C-Diff after using antibiotics. It's a bacterial infection that can cause a toxic megacolon and is very hard to beat.

Unfortantely, I have had to purchase medicine that is not covered by our insurance 4 different times to date. Each time the medicine has failed me and I have ended up in the instacare needing hydration and electrolytes to prevent my organs from failing. There's only one prescription left that can help called "DIFICID," and my insurance won't cover a penny.  I've used the manufacture coupon and they still want 500 from me in order to get a 10 day prescription.... And sometimes the will put you on what's called a 'long taper,' where you need the medicine for more than ten days. I was told 3 months.

I have always been the person lending a hand so this "asking for help," was very hard. But I humbled myself and decided to let everyone know what has been going on. Whether it's prayers, a small donation or a simple share. I apperciate the help.

I want to get back to myself and start making a differnce in this world again and I haven't been able to for the last 8 months.

I was misdiagnosed and put on all the wrong meds which actually made this whole thing a lot worse than it needed to be.

I really need your help to get better. If you can help at all. I would really apperciate it and I'm pretty sure my family would as well.

This is the long story as short as I could make it....

There are a few of you that know what has been gong on with me but this is for those who may not have a clue...

I was diagnosed with a severe and potentially life-threatening stomach infection in August 2016. I have been fighting my butt off to beat it. I got the infection after a kidney infection and having to use the antibiotic “CIPRO.”

It killed all the good bacteria in my stomach and left behind this toxic infection inside my colon. Most people can beat it after 1-2 rounds of meds but I have not been lucky enough to be that person mainly because they kept throwing antibiotics at me that conitnued to kill the good bacteria and let the cdiff thrive in happiness...
I have been in and out of the urgent care, specialists and have not had any luck with their treatment plans.

I thought I was in the clear after finishing the first medicine, which cost $100 dollars a bottle for only ten days. These meds have been described as “a step under chemo.” And leave you in quite a bit of misery. So far, I have relapsed four times with meds.

The last med “Vancomycin,” they put me on 4 times has failed me at the cost of $125 for each course and they have given me one last option to try and beat this with medicine. The new medicine is called “DIFICID,” which is $5000 dollars but I have a manufacture coupon which has brought it down to $500....

If this doesn't work I will have to have a brand-new procedure called “FMT.” This is a fecal transplant, which is not covered by insurance and runs at around $5000 dollars on it's own. They take the healthy stool from someone who donated and implant it into my colon. This procedure is expensive and a last resort after DIFICID (if it fails).

I have been unable to run my positive news website and keep attempting to make people smile. I haven't been myself in almost a year. After four relapses... I just want my life back... I'm terrified I'm going to lose my stomach and to be frank, I'm desperate for a second chance at my life again. Every relapse has been more painful....

Symptoms of C. diff
C. difficile infection can range from mild to life-threatening. Symptoms of mild cases include watery diarrhea, three or more times a day for several days, with abdominal pain or tenderness.

Symptoms of more severe C. diff infection include:

Watery diarrhea, up to 15 times each day
Severe abdominal pain
Loss of appetite
Fever
Blood or pus in the stool
Weight loss

In some cases, C. diff infection can lead to a hole in the intestines, which can be fatal if not treated immediately.

Hospitals are not doing enough to prevent this infectiona and as soon as I'm better I plan to contact local news and write articles to spread the word about CDIFF. People are dying from this and it can and should be prevented with proper cleaning and more antibiotic control.

CDIFF is becoming a huge problem because facilties are not training their employees to properly clean, they are prescribing antibiotics that are not needed and over treating their patients. It's time to spread the word on preventing CDIFF. If there's anything I can do positive after having this infection is help others by informing them of preventive measures, treatments like the stool transplant and much more.
