Airline Killed My Best Friend

Donation protected
My name is Danielle I am 21 years of age I am a absolute animal lover when I moved from Australia to London with my boyfriend in March this year to start a new life with our 2 beautiful birds that we hand raised and have had for 2 years Kakota and Elvis Indian ringneck parrots. On march the 10th my baby bird kakota arrived in London barely alive suffering hypothermia and her crate overflow of water, they called me and told me that they were so sorry but kakota might not make it I rushed to the animal reception centre where I got her released, kept her on a hot water bottle then on our way home she started having seizures and went to the nearest vet rushed inside and she died of hypothermia. I flew with Qantas and went through a pet transport company called Skypets which both won't take responsibility. The only way for me to get the birds over to UK was to get the most expensive flight to fly with them which costed me £1500 then a further £1500 in costs for the transportation for my birds it took 6 months for me to organise vet checks, quarantine and paperwork which was another £500 that's how much I love my babies. It was a pain staking long, expensive process and which resulting in my baby dieing and I made calls after calls to Qantas and emails for investigations to find out why there was so much water, why was it so cold in the hold? And why was there issues with handling Qantas or skypets will not take responsibility when my baby has died a slow painful neglectful death. I went to a animal negligence lawyer which have now paid a further £1000 and 2 letters sent and Skypets won't take responsibility, the next step was to go to court which is why I made this page but an update today has come, Qantas and skypets are still refusing any responsibility, and by the time I go to court nothing will happen because in Australia they class pets as property therefore if a pet is harmed or killed they will only be looked at as market value and unfortunately as kakota was only worth £150 I cannot do anything. The only thing we can do now is try and get awareness out that Australias animal laws need to change so a pet is classified as a living breathing loving things that they are just like humans and not objects and property, it's absolutely disgusting...

Now unfortunately I cannot go ahead with a court case to Qantas so the remainder left from the my lawyer I will donate the remainder to a go fund me animal page that we may be able to help, I am still going to try everything I can but at this stage with the law as it is in Australia nothing will happen and therefore if something happens to your pet in Australia they are only looked at as a market value THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE. Australia is now 10 years behind as countries have already changed their laws for animals giving them legal rights and not classified as objects...
Kakota my baby bird was more like my child... I handraised and hand fed her from 8 weeks old and she has never left my sight for more than a few hours.. was my best friend she did everything with me showers, making dinner, watching tv, keeping me company when I was scared we were inseparable from each other and needed each other as I suffer severe anxiety. I went through the tough process in deciding to move to UK and start our new life with our babies, the process took me 6 months to go through where I was assured they would get my birds safely there and nothing would happen unless there was an error. Ever since this I am now suffering Major Depression because of my companion was taken in such a horrible way and I have to live with this. I paid for a service which was guaranteeing the safety of my pet just like a passengerbut it's like she was treated like baggage. There's been a severe error and no one will take responsibility and it will happen again if nothing is done! Please get awareness AUSTRALIA needs to change..

Photos of her in the crate when she arrived off the plane were taken from the James cargo who get them from the plane..
