Help Matthew Defend and Buy Home

As many of you know, I have found the starter home of my dreams in Atlanta's Hunter Hills community.  It is close to the Ashby MARTA Station, the Atlanta Beltline, and downtown Atlanta.

Unfortunately, I have been fighting with rent-to-own company Divvy Homes to get repairs done and they have sought to get me out of the lease because they claim I am a "housing advocate" (that part is true) and that this somehow proves I never wanted to buy the house.

Litigation "ain't cheap" as the good Carbi B would say.  I am pursuing this litigation on behalf of all Georgia tenants and because of the precedents that are at stake.  This fund is in part to help with the costs of litigation (copies, ink, paper, filing fees, etc.)

Also, I am close to qualifying for a mortgage but could use help with the down payment.  I already have $5,265 on deposit with Divvy towards the purchase on the home, and I have the exclusive right to buy.

So, as a Law School Graduation/Housewarming/37th birthday present, I have a special request. 

The best housewarming gift of all would be help  me fight Divvy to keep my home; and to come up with a full  10% downpayment on this house.  I have learned a lot about housing law in the course of this fight and I will use this house as a home base for continuing to research and draft laws to help tenants in Atlanta, Clarkston, and across Georgia.

The great news is, I just completed Law School, with my last semester having just finished at Emory.

Thank you to each of you who encouraged me to keep going.  It wasn't easy going back to school in my thirties!  All the likes and comments on my "percentage complete" updates on Facebook helped keep me going for sure.

I am planning a graduation party soon (stay tuned for date and time)!   Of course, we will be having a fish fry at my home.

All my life I've been fighting for low-income people.  I never thought I'd have to fight for my own home!  Please help me to exercise my option to buy this house.  Any amount large or small will help.
