Help Mark's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected

Mark Chambers is a husband, son, brother, colleague and a mentor to young adults. Mark has been faced with many health challenges which has seen him go through difficult physical, emotional and psychological phases.

He was diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia at the age of 14 years and has been in and out of hospital all his life. In 2006 he had an acute sickle cell crisis which affected

all his vital organs; he was put in a medically induced coma for two (2) weeks and was given a few days to live. This in it itself is a testimony that he is a fighter and does not give up easily which is why we need your help.

In 2014, he was diagnosed with a Renal Cell Carcinoma (kidney cancer) which led to him having his right kidney removed. Then in 2015, he was diagnosed with Necrosis of the right humerus (decaying of the right upper arm bone as a result of the sickle cell) for which he underwent surgery. When we thought the situation was now improving after the last surgery, in October 2016 he was diagnosed with Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma(a very rare form of cancer). The kidney cancer had returned, but had now spread to his right pelvic area, right shoulder and lungs.

Since December 2016, he has been having chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. Mark lives in constant pain 24/7 and has not had a good night's sleep for 2 years. To further improve his quality of life Mark and Justine (his wife) are looking into pursuing breakthrough alternative treatments in the form of immunotherapy, homeopathy and special diets overseas and so need your financial support.
These treatments have been proven to be effective to many cancer patients. In addition, these treatments would help him to have better rest at nights, decrease his levels of  pain, eliminate the reliance on chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This will afford him the ability to do daily tasks such as driving, personal care and eventually returning to work on a full time basis as a social worker supporting adults with learning disabilities.

Both he and his wife have had to take a substantial amount of time off work due to his illness while he was in hospital and now to facilitate his treatments.

We ask you family, friends and all well-wishers  who will be touched by Mark’s story to stand by us as we help Mark to fight this terrible ‘DIS-ease’. They are aiming for treatment to start as soon as the funds have been raised since with cancer it is a dis-ease of race against time.

Please spread the word as wide as you can as no amount is too small or too big and all your support financial or otherwise will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support.
