September 16 2017...A day I'll never forget. It was just a migraine she said as the ambulance drove her away. I've heard that for 2 weeks straight , whenever she was awake for brief periods of time. I kept asking her to go to the hospital...she'd reply it's just a migraine. ..then the pain became to much to bare and she finally let me call an ambulance.. The wait was long until the CT scan came back then life was in motion but seemed serial out of a movie or wasn't me it wasn't her it wasn't a migraine. Her head was full of blood. The blood had pushed her brain to the side. She was placed in a medical coma and set to be transfered to Houston for emergency surgery. I had to make.all decision for her signing papers agreeing to the risk of the surgery and the small percentage she'd make it through. They wheeled her away and I was left in a cold, lonly, waiting room desperately awaiting any news ... Hours and hours later ...4 blood transfusions..what was to be a 3 inch scar turned into almost 12 inch. Tubes coming and going from her head... nose...mouth.. she was still in a coma and stayed there for a week. Once she woke up her hemotologist kept asking health questions family history, about blood disorders and saying your labs are all wrong and we don't know why...another week in NICU and eventually to a step down room...I prayed soon she'd be home ..we thought it was over she made it through now recovery and life will get back to normal. Not the case at all instead about a month later we found out they found some answers and had more questions.. Amy has a protein in her blood called an igga kappa which attacks her ability to clot blood...a small cut will bleed for an hour any big cut she could bleed out and a brain bleed or any internal bleed could happen again out of now where for no reason. This condition is rare and usually occurs in people over 70. Amy 39. This blooms disease also means she has 1 of 2 rare disease which are still being tested to determine which. 1 is mngus another a form of cancer..on top of the surgery side effects like seizures ... constant pain in scar and head...sharp stabbing pains ..memory issues galore and the mist goes on. She has no insurance , bills are pulling up. Her medicine is expensive and not always available due to finances..she's no longer allowed to work or drive. Experimental drugs..seizure meds...steriods..more testing ... bills upon bills..the trips to houston...and now she's self pay and can't see the doctors unless she can pay in full at the time of appointment . In January 2018 she had another small brain bleed on opposite side...transfered to Houston another week stay more MRI. CT...x ray's. ..labs.... We need yalls help to keep her able to see her doctors to receive ongoing treatments for her conditions, more testing...next up bone marrow testing, we need help so she can have her medicine daily. Any amount no matter how small helps aid in her in going fight and care. http://abc13.com/health/woman-goes-to-er-for-migraine-ends-up-in-coma/3055554/ her story on our local news channel.
