Help Maddy's Fight Against GBS!

Donation protected
Maddy is suffering from a rare autoimmune disorder called Guillain-Barrè Syndrome (GBS). It causes the immune system to attack the body's peripheral nervous system. It then evolves to muscle weakness and eventually paralysis. It's a very painful process and needs to quickly be reversed before the diaphragm is effected.

Maddy has gone through several diagnostic tests including a lumbar puncture, an MRI, an EMG, chest x-ray and countless blood panels. She has been officially diagnosed with GBS- variant. This means that she has damage not only to the myelin sheath around the nerve but the nerves themselves. She did not respond to her first round of treatment with IVIg. So the doctors decided to take a more aggressive approach. Maddy had minor surgery to have a catheter placed into her chest so that she can have plasmapheresis. She will have 5 treatments of plasmapheresis with the hope that it will reverse the progression of the disorder.

After 5 treatments the neurologists are hopeful to regain control of her nerve conduction. Unfortunately, it is unknown when Maddy will walk again but heavy physical therapy will follow this hospitalization. The doctors are hopeful that she can walk by Christmas.

We ask that you please find it in your hearts to make a small donation towards the medical expenses that will result from Maddy's treatment. We also ask that you continue to pray for Maddy as she continues this journey back to recovery!
