Our first family in need have a little boy called Eoin.
Avril and Gary his mum and dad are preparing to make life as comfortable as they can for Eoin. I met Avril and Gary in the neonatal unit in 2006 when we had our preterm babies.
Eoin was diagnosed with MLD (Metachromatic Leukodystrophy) in October 2016. Prior to this Eoin was a very active little boy who loved running, climbing and playing. Following this devastating diagnosis Eoin’s condition has deteriorated rapidly and Eoin relies on a wheelchair and requires full assistance for all his needs. This life limiting condition unfortunately is incurable and Eoin will need us more and more as time passes.

Cillian Fegan is swimming a mile for Eoin in the National Aquatic centre on the 25th of March at 2.00 pm.
I am 11 years of age. I have been giving special permission to enter a swim a mile event though I am only 11. I want to do something nice to help other families of preterm and sick babies/children and I want to help Eoin and his family.
I am an ex preterm baby, I have spent years going in and out of hospital. I have had six surgeries, bacterial meningitis, epilepsy, sensory processing disorder, kidney problems ,asthma, chronic rhinitis, eczema ,dermatitis auditory processing disorder. I have attended auditory clinics, speech and language clinics, eye clinics , physiotherapy clinics, and occupational therapy clinics. I am still doing therapies on a weekly basis . So many people have helped me to cycle, run and swim. My mum spent years helping me to swim and now I swim for a club called Delphin.
Swimming is the only sport I can do and that's why I am doing this and because I want to help Eoin and his family. My mum set up a charity and helped loads of families and I want to do the same.
