Lily is a bright, sweet girl that is going through the hardest thing a child can go through. She has been sent to B.C. Children’s Hospital to battle Stage 4 Burkett’s Lymphoma. She is in the fight of her life, for her life. Her parents and family are beside her. She is uncomfortable, scared and wants to go home, but she must stay, and her family needs to be by her side.
The costs associated with being in another city, away from work and home adds up quickly, hotels, meals, ferry costs. Please consider supporting her and her family. There is nothing so noble as those who stupe so low to lift up a child.

Update day 53 from Meredith
Lily is doing well at this moment .
Right now her biggest issues are still with tummy pain, nausea ,nerve pain in feet and high blood pressure (mostly from fluid over load ).
Last week was full of tests . Lily had another pet scan we were transported by ambulance to the Bc cancer hospital what an ordeal that was. On the upside the paramedic we had wheeled Lily on the stretcher into the sun for a few moments as she had not been outside for over 40 days . Lily loves this .
Lily also had an echocardiogram test and an ultrasound.
The pet scan showed her tumours had shrunk more , however they found 2 new spots on her liver and spleen . Many drs looked into what those new spots could be and came up with no real answers only a guess , infection or disease .
Doing a biopsy wasn’t an option they wanted to risk . So Drs decided to treat her with antibiotics and go ahead with her second round of chemo .
Her echocardiogram test which she has had a few of revealed her heart function is unstable for one of the chemo treatments so they are not risking giving it to her this round .

Friday Lily had a bone marrow test so she was put to sleep for that and also had a new central line put into her chest and started round 2 of chemo .
Monday was a special day Lily was confirmed here in her room by our pastor and the Bishop .
We also had many visitors Lily has some great friends ❤️
Our family from Alberta came for a few days to visit this was awesome .

Today we got some great news Lilys bone marrow test came back clear let’s pray it stays that way .
So the approaching week we will see how Lily will do and what side affects she will encounter this time . Praying for an easier go.

With all this going on I never really have said much about how Jose and I are doing .
I have to say Jose has been and amazing supportive father and husband . I could not do this without him by our side .
If you don’t know me well I do suffer from anxiety and this has not been easy . I had been doing well but the lack of sleep and constant care for lily caught up to me and I ended up going to the ER at 2am on the weekend (slightly embarrassed ).
Being away from my boys has been so difficult I worry about them too .
I’m slowly learning self care is important and having Jose here to watch over lily so I can go for a walk helps .
Seeing all the children here arranging in ages 2 months up sick with cancer is extremely depressing . The suffering is so real ,what strong amazing human beings they all are .
I have met some amazing families here with a journey like ours but with some different paths .
Cancer sucks ..................................

On a good note to end Lily has been chosen to be a jr rider for cops for cancer tour de rock she pretty excited for this .

Thank you again for all your support friends ,family ,and strangers
We are very thankful ❤️

Update day 44
In the last week Lily has made some great improvements in certain areas .
Lilys pain level as of this am has majorly improved instead of 10/10 or 5/10 shes having only moments that are at a 4 . The pain drs have weened her off of her hydro morphine which had been running constantly . Lily is only now on precedex which is now being weened ,however there are times she needs a little help with pain so she gets something called a “Bowles” which is a shot of hydro morphine .
The drs had started Lily back on feeds through her NG tube but as they increased the amount she was getting really sick vomiting constantly so it was stopped . She had an X-ray that showed her stomach and intestines and colon still really inflamed .
Lily is now trying to slowly drink protein meal replacement drinks and some freezies and popsicles on her own . She seems to be keeping it down and only has the odd vomit attack during the day or night . Since having the mucusitis she has a real build up of saliva which hasn’t helped her situation for getting sick .
On Sunday night lily started some trembling hands shaking head nodding a bit it freaked me out but during these moments she can still talk . At first we thought it was withdrawals from her meds but pain dr said no . She had it again 2x yesterday so if it persists she will see a neurologist . It possibly could just be her bodies way of dealing with the stress that’s gone on ???
Last week Lily started getting physio as she has been in bed lying for an month . She has some pain and tenderness in her right foot the drs think it’s nerve related so the physiotherapist has her wearing splints for 2 hours a day . Over the week they have gotten her to sit at edge of bed to brush teeth and get some balance . 4 days ago she started getting up to stand to get weighted and back down again this took a lot out of her.
On Saturday she found out a friend of hers was coming to visit so she asked if she could go in a wheelchair and visit her in the teen room this was an amazing step and as she was wheeled out of her room the nurses started cheering her on as it was her first time leaving her room she had a smile from one end to another . Then yesterday when the nurse and I were cleaning her up and doing her weight she asked if she could take some steps so as she got going I said how far you want to go she said mommy I have some new energy can I walk the hallway . So with the help of a walker and nurse holding bob her iV pole off she went again with the nurses cheering her on she did a whole loop . Wow was I ever proud of her ❤️
this week will consist of lots of testing ,counselling and physio . Her next round of chemo is creeping up on Lily as she gets better . Ugh
