Help Lily Get to Austin for her PhD

As many of you know, I have just earned my MA in May of 2019 and my ultimate goal is to earn a PhD and become a professor. In March, I moved one step closer to my goal and I was super happy to receive an admissions offer to the Media Studies PhD program at my top choice, the University of Texas Austin.
I am passionate about researching the media’s representation of black folks and how media aids in the marginalization and disenfranchisement of the black community. This past year I have lectured several classes, spoke to college students and wrote papers/projects on my research. My ultimate goal is to be professor. I have a passion for this and confident that teaching is what I want do with my life.
While this time is incredibly exciting for my family, it is admittedly stressful. While I have been saving, moving to Texas is more of an expense than I can take on myself. Money is already tight and my job at Old Dominion University will be ending in June and I need to move in mid July.
I pride myself on being hard working, independent and doing the best for myself and my boys. However, I realize that this is a situation that I have to push away my pride and ask for help. The expenses are more than what I can handle on my own.
My fundraising goal of $5,000 will help my family and I meet some of the moving expenses until I begin working and receive my student stipend in September 2019. Anything towards this goal will be incredibly helpful and very appreciated. If you would like to donate another way, let me know and we can make a plan.

Expense breakdown
Moving my belongings-$3000
Rent/down payment- $2000
Traveling to TX- $1000
Misc fees (food, motel when we arrive, gas)- $1000
Giving up is not an option and this a dream of mine to provide a better life for my family. In addition to whatever donations I receive I do intend on working odd jobs (Uber, Postmates, freelance graphic design, hair, etc.) to cover some of the expenses and my existing bills.
