In memory of Laura Kriho, RIP

Donation protected

In memory of Laura Kriho, friend, sister, daughter, Cannabis Activist, awesome person.

Sadly, Laura did not survive her battle. We will briefly continue to accept donations, solely for the purpose of offsetting any final expenses her family may incur. After that, if you wish to donate, please give to one of the causes Laura supported.  Thanks to all. To learn a little more about Laura, read on.

This article appeared in an e-mail from Cannabis Hemp News Service:

An interesting and colorful character, Laura possessed a strong (some might say, stubborn) personality, and was totally committed to causes within which she believed. This commitment is very much in evidence by her efforts to thwart a jury verdict in a highly-publicized 1996 drug case against a young girl. Her subsequent prosecution for her efforts took a toll on her personally, and also on her family. However, perseverance and massive support from the activist community eventually lead to dismissal of all charges. The case is mentioned in a Wikipedia article on Jury Nullification.

In the 1990's, Laura worked for state senator Lloyd Casey, one of the first to propose a hemp-legalization bill. Although the bill ultimately failed, it represented an early and important push forward for the wave of awareness and acceptance of legal marijuana.

Fortunately, Laura was alive to witness the next big wave of progress, culminating in the recent legalization of marijuana for recreational use in four additional states.

Laura lived a full, interesting and passionate life, one cut very short to be sure, but the mark Laura left on this world will survive eternally. She will most definitely be missed.

Contributions in her memory may be made to a cause that is in line with her passions and values.  Or simply pledge to help change the world, as she did, through advocacy and action.

You can read more about her work in a Westword article published earlier this week.

Our sister Laura (Kriho) is in the Intensive Care Unit with multiple issues. Her digestive tract has been attacked by some unknown beastly bug, and has ravaged her body. She just suffered a collapsed lung, and is in serious condition.  Her Mom and Gregory Seaman are attending her night and day right now, so she is getting good support.

However, the bills are piling up while all of this is happening.  Laura's medical bills will be huge, and none f them are bringing in any money right now, so they are really going to need financial help to get through this.

I know that none of us are rich, but maybe we each have a little to give.  The campaign will stay open for as long as it takes to help Laura, her Mom, and Gregory get back on their feet, so please donate whenever you can.  Maybe not a lot in any one donation, but every dollar will be thoroughly appreciated.

Laura has stood up and supported many causes during her life, including some that we have reaped benefits from, like the legalization of cannabis.  NOW IS THE TIME for us to stand up and SUPPORT LAURA.

We can't offer any gifts or prizes for your thoughtfulness and kindness, but once our campaign has succeeded, I'll invite all donors over to our house for a great feast, and y'all know what a good thing that will be.

But let's focus on what is most important NOW, which is to send lots of love, hope, and good wishes to Laura.  Maybe we can have a positive influence...  and please give what you can, because we KNOW that will have a positive influence on one problem.

On behalf of the entire Rock Family, GET WELL SOON, LAURA!

Love to all of you,

Eric
