Help Kleines get a wheelchair van

Donation protected
A close friend of ours, Joel Kleine, was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia (FA) over 10 years ago. FA is a rare genetic degenerative neuromuscular disease that affects his coordination, balance and ability to walk - currently there is no treatment or cure. Until a year ago, he was able to transfer in and out of his current van independently. Now, he is no longer able to do so safely; which has hindered his freedom and ability to work as an elementary teacher.

This gofundme fundraiser is to help the Kleines purchase a converted van to help Joel get back to work and increase his independence. The ability for Joel to independently travel has a profound impact on him, his family, and so many around him. We hope to provide this funding as soon as possible.

The estimated cost for a van with an in-floor ramp, lowered floor and driver’s transfer seat is close to $85 000.

While the Kleines are applying for complementary funding through DRES (Disability Related Employment Support) that could assist with a portion of the costs, the majority of the cost will still need to be covered.

The Kleines are a family who continually think of others first. They consistently pour out their generosity by helping neighbors with shoveling, bringing meals to neighbors suffering loss, opening up their home to build community and friendships, spending time to clean up their neighborhood, and so many other gracious acts.

Thank you for taking the time to read and share this. Every donation, big or small, will go a long way toward helping this family.
