Help Ken Recover and Rebuild

Ken Thompson is a beloved member of the Westside Colorado Springs community being a staple checker at the West Colorado Avenue Safeway. Having started his career in 1981 with the company he worked his way up to checker serving at several stores including down in Walsenburg Colorado, and moving into Colorado Springs at N Circle, Wahsatch (The Bonn), and then finally landing at West Colorado Avenue in 1991.

During the early morning hours of August 8th, Kens house caught on fire and ultimately was deemed an entire loss. Ken was able to make it out of the house but not before suffering extreme burns on more than 35% of his body. In addition to his physical state, losing his house along with all of his possessions, and losing his car, Ken's dog (that he was very close to) was not able to make it out of the house.  

Ken is currently in the very early stages of recovery at a burn hospital in Denver. 

We do not know yet what all can be done to help support him in his recovery and re-building of his life after recovery, but this page will be updated as we learn more. The goal has been set at $40,000 but we hope to far exceed that to help Ken rebuild.  Please share with  anyone that may be able to help or that Kens life has been able to touch.

Peggy Thompson (his mom) and all of his wonderful family are assisting Ken while he is in the hospital and not able to take care of matters himself. These funds are going directly to Ken for his future medical bills, and for rebuilding his life when he gets out of the hospital!
