Help me become a UK citizen

You may or may not know this but I am not British, but American. I have wanted to get British citizenship for some time.
However, as I have mainly been a volunteer helping to support families of autistic children for the past several years, funds are thin on the ground for this.
It costs around £1,300 to apply for naturalisation to become a British Citizen.
Hearing the sickening news regarding the treatment of illegal immigrants in the US has forced my hand. I am no longer comfortable having allegiance to this country.
Furthermore, I am worried about travelling to the US to visit my family. I have a disabled child and would need to be 200% sure that I could return to the UK. Having a British passport would help this.
Please would you help me get my British citizenship?
Your support will ensure that I can remain in the country which I love and where I have made my home (I have lived here since 2001).
