Hello and welcome to my page.  I know many of you reading this are friends, family, colleagues and community members.  Some of you may be, as I have been at times, simply someone interested in someone else's story and willing to take a little time to share it.   This is my story now:

I am a strong woman in my mid-forties, I own my own business and work with a team of alternative health-care providers.
I am a bodyworker and a yoga instructor.  I'm a musician, a gardener, a bee-guardian and lover of the outdoors.  I am a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a partner, a friend, a niece.  I am an advocate, an ally and a student of life.  I am a fan of good food, long walks in nature and longer meditations.  Right now, I am also healing cancer, again.

In June of 2014 I was diagnosed with invasive ductile carcinoma, I had surgery to remove the tumor & successfully healed over the course of 2yrs, utilizing many alternative therapies.

In May of 2018 I found myself facing the challenge of being diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer (stage 4).  PET scan, MRI & biopsy results indicate that the original cancer has spread to my bones.

One of the most difficult aspects of the challenges before me is meeting the financial demands of treatment and recovery.  I will again be unable to work for an unknown number of months.

Medical insurance will cover only a portion of my care (labs & testing) and provides no coverage for care that falls outside of the purview of Western medicine. This is where I will need the most help and greatly appreciate any and all support you can offer.

A donation in any amount no matter how large or small is very impactful in the message of kindness, compassion & encouragement it sends.

Here's an example of what your donations will help cover:

Immunotherapy treatments, 3-week treatment program (outside the USA) is approximately $40,000 (USD), I will likely need 4-6weeks of these treatments.

A donation of $4,000 would pay for a month's worth of expenses (not including treatments & Dr's appointments).

A donation of $500 pays for the Dr's consult/visits at the clinic where I receive treatments locally (consults are every 3-4wks).

A donation of $475 pays for 2 weeks worth of supplements (adjunct systemic treatments)

A donation of $350 pays for lab/testing not covered by insurance
(every 1-3wks).

A donation of $125 will pay for a week of groceries.

A donation of any amount, no matter how large or small, means a great deal in terms of the message of support, encouragement and inspiration it sends; and, in the end, these are the most precious of resources.

My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of you for your time, your thoughts and prayers and your support in the myriad ways you show and send it. You are all the best part of this latest chapter in my story.

May the longtime sun shine upon you, ALL LOVE SURROUND YOU and the pure light within you, guide your way on.

Warmest wishes,
Kaia

Helloooooo & Happy Spring!
I'm not sure about all of you, but I feel like I turned a corner (mentally/emotionally) in the past couple weeks (phfffweeeew!) Spring is Liver season (Chinese Medicine), so while we're likely all welcoming the warmer weather and return of the light, it's also likely that agitation & irritation are at the forefront of our being. A great time to cleanse & be gentle with what's surfacing on ALL levels. Good news for me is that my leg/ankle is on the mend! I'm out of the huge boot & into a compression sock & smaller wrap to keep it happy. I've started swimming for rehab, occasional weight-bearing and driving, which have all been real "game-changers". I also no longer need crutches for EVERYTHING. It's amazing what loss-of-autonomy & mobility does to the psyche! I've been on crutches in my past but never with metastasis looming in the background of my consciousness. It's a daily practice to stay positive (and easier now that I have some freedom & a little mobility back!)

My next PET scan is slated for the beginning of May, to assess the effectiveness of radiation and also my bone-building-efforts (the tumor deteriorated a good portion of my lower tibia). I'm confident that all my efforts are supportive, because similar treatments worked on the vertebrae of my spine last June.

Until then, I'm enjoying the return of the song birds to my yard, am excited about planning & planting my gardens & am so grateful that my bees made it through Winter! I'm also exceedingly grateful for the support & encouragement all of you continue to send my way. Without it, I would be in a MUCH different place.
Thank you for continuing to share this link & utilize it when you feel called. May ALL LOVE surround you!

Hi All, It's been a whirlwind few weeks. I finished my last (10th) radiation treatment to my right ankle yesterday and am so glad to be done. I tolerated it much better than the last round (because of the location) but am more weary/tired & worn-out than I expected. Radiation's effects on my tumor & system are cumulative and will continue to work for the next 4-6weeks; so I'm doing what I can to be proactive and reach-out for support during that time. I'm also focusing on rebuilding the bone (where the tumor deteriorated it) for the next 6-8weeks and was advised by an Orthopaedic Dr. to refrain from ALL weight-bearing-activities... so I'll need help with rides, meals, house-cleaning, etc... etc...
DONATIONS HERE continue to be key in delivering the resources necessary for my healing. THANK YOU for continuing to share this link and for being my community of support! My heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of you. May ALL LOVE SURROUND YOU~Kaia

Hello All, I hope this finds you all well, integrating the New Year with more clarity of purpose and hopefully with more ease. I've tended to wait to update until I have concrete news, but realize it's been awhile again and people are wondering how I'm doing. My apologies for waiting.... this update, while it may be brief will be followed by another soon.

After receiving treatments in BC Canada I returned home to Colorado for a brief week, prior to Birthday & Holiday travels to immerse myself in a Yoga & Meditation retreat (Birthday) and to visit family for the Holidays.

Post-treatments (beginning of December) I was feeling energized and full of optimism. Upon return to Colorado, I felt the rigor of treatments "catch up with me" and was (and still am) very tired as my body integrates a great deal of input (on all levels). I continue to receive I.V. Vitamin C weekly, am self-injecting Mistletoe & am getting some bodywork & Acupuncture to help address the lymph edema (swelling) I'm experiencing from the uptake of so much fluid (with the I.V.'s in Canada 4-5/wk as well as here at home). Although on the grand scale.... my body is doing incredibly well, on the daily levels, I'm slowing down quite a bit. My right leg joints (hip, knee & ankle) are intermittently painful & swollen, making sleep & walking difficult. I'm grateful for the season, as it allows time to drop-in, slow-down and reflect. I'm also immensely grateful for the Sangha of RAJ yoga in Boulder. Meditating and practicing yoga in community/group continues to be a buoy for my Soul; keeping me steady and positive, especially when my body doesn't allow for the activity/exercise I crave.

I have a PET scan this Friday 1/18 to assess the effectiveness of treatments-received and will have the results by late next week. I'm anxious for the results, as they will inform my treatment-plan moving forward. It's highly likely that I'll return to Canada for more and as far as I'm concerned, the sooner the better. I'll have more info either next week or the following (after I've met with all Dr's to assess & create a treatment plan moving forward).

Until then, and as always, your love, support, encouragement, prayers and donations are immensely supportive and very beneficial. I'm so grateful and Blessed to have such an amazing community of friends and family cheering me on and holding me in the LIGHT of HEALING. The preciousness of Life is palpable for me on a daily basis. This journey has felt like a marathon... one that I've not yet finished... THANK YOU for continuing to support me and thank you for continuing to share the link to my donation-site.

I'll be back with another update soon. Until then, hold one another close, share your love and continue to keep your hearts open. It's what we ALL need right now.

Warmest wishes~Kaia
