Junior's Medical Fund
On June 18th, I suffered an injured vertebra above my left shoulder. It’s hard to tell exactly where the injury is on the x-ray but my doc says there appears to be collapsed disk spaces in both my caudal cervical spine and thoracolumbar area.
We were hoping the meds would fix me and though I've shown some improvement, my doc says I still need surgery. The entire treatment will include an MRI, operation and post-op care costing me around $8,000.
Right now, because of the meds, I sleep most of the day. When I get up to do my thing outside, I take tiny steps and walk like I’m drunk – my spine is still hunched. And though the video shows me in pain, it’s well managed and tolerable now.
Your donation will help me walk properly - may be even chase girls again.
I posted this once but didn't show on the update timeline. I'm doing it again so my apologies if I'm spamming your email.
Junior had his MRI on the 20th and we received the results on the 22nd. Based on the results, we were able to pinpoint the exactly location, and the extent of his injury. But deciding the next move wasn’t as clear.
The decision was either an operation or stem cell therapy. Today, we have finally decided on stem cell therapy. This procedure is non-surgical which means it's less invasive; no wounds (so he won't have to wear a neck collar), no stitches, scars or messy clean-ups ... and it's far less expensive (1/3 of the cost of an operation). I have lowered the funding amount to what we have raised – we have enough for now :)
There are no guarantees with any procedure but this seems like the logical choice because we can always operate later if this doesn't work. We feel it will work.
Now ... I was waiting for his doc to call me today but he was operating on a bulldog. I will have to wait (again) until Monday to set a date for the procedure. I'm not sure if his doc extracts the fat tissue but I know he doesn't generate the stem cells, that he'll outsource but he will do the injections. Physical therapy will take place at home.
Please keep in mind, Junior is no longer in pain, he's not even taking pain meds but he still walks drunk and falls once in a while, but doesn't cry. We think he's reached his maximum potential on meds so now it's time to move forward.
What is stem cell therapy? Watch this video and you'll understand why we've decided on it. NOTE: This is not Junior nor is this the clinic that will perform the procedure. Watching this video sold me on the procedure.
Because of his progress, we have removed his video as it no longer represents his current condition. During his doc visit tomorrow, we'll try to capture new footage and share it.
As far as his operation, as soon as the doc sets the date, we'll share it as well.
Junior cannot thank you enough for the care and support you have given him - we'll keep you posted. Thank you!
I hope ppl see the value behind him. Yeah he is just a dog, some may say. But he is SOMEONEs life, someone's companion, and someone loves him and he loves them back. As friends... we support our friends, near and far. Where there is a need, a friend will lend a helping hand. Prayers for a speedy and painless healing process.
