Our brother, Jordy Blundell was in a very bad accident on boxing day (the day after his 45th birthday).  The car he was in rolled over, crushing the roof and leaving him trapped inside the vehicle.  Emergency crews rushed him to hospital in Victoria where it was determined his injuries were severe and would require more specialized care, at which time he was medivaced to Vancouver. Our brother, who has always been the light in any room, has a smile nobody can ever match, has an attitude of perseverance and strength like no other and has a heart of complete gold has been left forever changed by this tragic event.  He has been left paralyzed and will need ongoing care and treatments of which the total costs can only be imagined at this point.    We have had so many calls from family and friends wanting to offer their support for Jordy that we thought starting this page would be not only a great way for them to offer their support but also for us to update the many concerned on his ongoing journey.

A note from Jordy.
Thank You, thank You, thank You. To my amazing friends and family:
I am humbled and heart warmed by your kind responses to my life changing incident. We all seem to have ended up in different parts of the world and do not have much time to connect, but your very generous donations to the Go-fund-me campaign that my sisters set up for me and your kind words of support shows us all that family and true friends are never far apart.
Due to the severity of my injuries, we are expecting a minimum 18-month journey for my recovery. My family and I greatly appreciate all your support; financially and emotionally, for this extended recovery time.
For the past 6 weeks I have been fortunate to have had my family by my side to keep my chin up (and my hair short :) see pics). It means so much to have their support during this difficult time. They have been living in hotels and eating in restaurants, which unfortunately has eaten up a large amount of their savings.
Due to your generous donations we have been able to secure local, temporary housing to continue their bedside support for the remainder of my recovery. Changes are daily and we will not really know what else is needed until the end of this 18-month program. We still expect to be able to budget for medical supplies and equipment from these funds once our time at GF Strong has concluded.
There are not enough words for my family and I to express how thankful we are.
With all my improvements I feel well enough to have visitors and would like some company . I am at VGH now and will give an update when I am transferred to GF Strong.
Sincerely: Jordy B
PS they tell me the hair will grow back.

Jordy is working hard. He has had his tracheotomy corked so he is able to speak again, which has brought his spirits up, and allows him to better communicate his needs to us. He continues to work hard at Physio, focusing on strengthening the slight movement that he has in both legs, and in his right arm and hand.

We again thank you for all the support thus far. My sister and I, with the help of our Parents will be allocating these funds that you have all so generously donated to help pay for Jordys medical expenses including equipment, medical treatments, therapies and anything else Jordy will need during this long road he has ahead.

As Jordy is still in the ICU Spinal Unit he is still unable to have visitors. This is not only for Jordy's safety and well being but also for the other vulnerable patients in that ward. He appreciates that everyone wants to have a visit and is really looking forward to seeing everyone, but visits will have to wait just a little longer. Please keep sending your wonderful letters and notes of encouragement.

The goal right now is for Jordy to become strong enough to be moved to GF Strong for further treatment. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and thank you for your continued support.

Today there is hopeful news!
Although Jordy has central cord damage at C3 and C4 levels he is showing some signs of regained motor function in both legs.  It is minimal and very weak and the doctors warn us not to get too excited just yet but we are, as you can imagine, extremely hopeful with this news.  He also had a small 'flicker' in his right bicep which means some messages are being received.  Of course it is still too soon to know what this all means but we will just continue to hope and pray for his recovery.

Your strenghth and support for Jordy and his family at this time is without a doubt being felt.  We want to thank you for helping us not only meet our goal but continuing your support as we know his journey will be a long and hard one. He is still unable to have visitors but when that time arrives we will be sure to let everyone know.

Please know that we are receiving and reading Jord your messages of love and support and they are helping him to stay strong and positive .  Please keep sending them.  Again, our family is overwhelmed by the support and generosity of his co-workers, his friends and his family and we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.  We are so very grateful! Please keep Jord in your thoughts and prayers!

Today we celebrate the little miracles, and want to thank the Emergency Personnel that were on site with Jordy Wednesday night. We recently learned that there was an off duty Officer, Paramedic, and Firefighter immediately on site at Jordy's accident, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude for your efforts.

Jordy is still currently in the Spinal Intensive Care Unit, and thankfully his breathing has improved slightly.

Thank you all for your prayers, not only is it helping Jordy through this difficult time, but his family as well. Here are our emails for those of you who aren't using Facebook and would like to send messages to Jordy.
