Help John Beske Beat Leukemia

A little more than three weeks ago, after having enjoyed great health for decades, I discovered that I have leukemia. I spent two eventful weeks in the hospital during which time I learned that the type of cancer I have allows me to be treated as an outpatient. This is very good news, and I have recovered enough that I am living at home pretty comfortably, but I'm told I have a long road ahead, including at least one more multi-week hospital stay that could happen as soon as a few weeks from now. I'm also getting regular outpatient care and there are expensive medications I need to take. Eventually, I am told I will likely beat this, but it could take months or possibly a year or two during which time I will be likely getting lots of treatments.

It's hard to envision what this will mean for me and my family financially, but I certainly expect there will be quite a few bills beyond what is covered by insurance.

I'm also a freelance graphic designer, so if I don't work I don't get paid. I run the whole business from the same laptop I'm using to type this message, and I actually worked at least a couple of hours on most days that I was in the hospital. Still, this is having a negative effect on my business and I have already lost some income. I'm more concerned about my next hospital stay which may keep me from working altogether for a while.

Some friends of mine urged me to open this GoFundMe page as a way for them to help me. I am very grateful for this offer on their parts, so this is my page. I feel uncomfortable asking friends for money, but I have been urged to do so, and my family and I certainly appreciate all the love and support we have been getting.
