Help Playbill Joel - Pay His Bills!

I recently became friends with a man named Joel Markowitz.  For theater artists in the DC area, his name has become synonymous with DC Metro Theater Arts.  Over the last 5 years (long before we were personal friends) Joel has helped me to advertise, get shows reviewed, and taken the time to give me advice when I have gotten frustrated.  When I was with a theater company with a miniscule budget, he always helped me to "work something out," because, as he says, he "likes to help out the little guy."

Now that I have gotten to know Joel a little bit better on a personal level, I have learned how passionate he is about that idea in every way.  Regardless of his personal struggles, he remains dedicated to helping others whenever he can.  And, when it comes to DCMTA, the man seriously runs himself ragged to get all of us - the big and little guys - exposure, listings, etc.

As many of you know Joel was recently diagnosed with ALS and is about to be overrun by mountains of bills.  His insurance will only help with a percentage of the costs and he will have to come up with everything else.  Unfortunately, the percentage he will be paying is high and good treatment is expensive.  This breaks my heart.  We cannot make him better and probably few of us can afford to pick up all of his medical bills, but if all of us little guys & gals kick in, we can make his life a little less stressful, and allow him to spend his time with his family, friends, and the theater (the man is a theater addict!)

So, please give $1, $13 or $100.  We all have limitations, but we are all part of a unique community and together we can help out a man who has helped us all.
