My name is Stephanie Jimenez and I am writing this campaign to inform all of our friends and family about the life threatening health situation that my sister, Jennifer, has been going through.

This past October, Jen noticed that she had unexplained massive bruises all over her body. She went to see her primary care physician and was sent to two different hematologist/oncologists. Her diagnosis was still unknown. After numerous blood tests, unsuccessful treatments, two painful bone marrow biopsies, 8 platelet and 3 red blood cell transfusions, Jen was diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anemia.

Aplastic Anemia means that Jen’s bone marrow is failing. In her case, the cause is unknown, leaving her body with minimal blood cells and putting her at high risk for infections and internal bleeding.  She is currently undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York where we travel to twice a week. They are getting her ready for a bone marrow transplant tentatively scheduled for January 31st, 2017. The transplant is her only chance of getting better.  Jen will have to receive chemotherapy and radiation therapy along with an abundance of medications. This being said, Jen is only 25 years old. She will need to preserve her eggs to ensure that she will one day be able to have a family. This is just one of the many expensive procedures only minimally covered by insurance. In addition, Jen will be hospitalized and away from home fighting this battle for about 4 months.

Your kind donations would mean the world to Jen and our family. It will help us cover the costs of Jen's medical bills and any expenses related to this heartbreaking and unexpected situation, so that her only focus is on getting better and going back to that incredibly full of life Jen we all know and love!

*Any additional funds will be donated to medical research and awareness charities surrounding Aplastic Anemia.
