Help with Jame's Leukaemia Battle
Donation protected
Hi this is James, my 16 year old nephew
In March 2017, James was diagnosed with T-cell Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) after his mum Penny, noticed bruises on his arms and legs. James was admitted to Lady Cilento Children's hospital in Brisbane to undergo immediate and intense chemo over the next 6 months.
Those six months have now blown out to 8 months(and still going), as despite best efforts from doctors at both Lady Cilento and the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, James has been incredibly sick and has not handled his treatment as expected.
With challenges such as being allergic to one of the chemo drugs that caused pancreatitis with a 3 week stint in hospital, contracting an E-coli infection, and numerous transfusions, he has faced an uphill battle of epic proportions. Like that old saying “what can go wrong, in James' case, has gone wrong”.
Whilst James has left his friends in Year 11 at Chancellor State College and they're all getting ready to enjoy the festive season, James' battle will continue, along with the financial hardship Adrian and Penny are now dealing with.
My brother Adrian quit his full time electrical job months ago to be Jame's full time carer, while mum Penny still works, her wage barely covers the mortgage payments. With no assistance from the government, up to three trips to Brisbane hospital every week, car parking fees, fuel and general household bills, the financial situation is growing. They have already had two re-draws on the mortgage to pay bills and live day to day, and with Christmas around the corner, myself and my family are asking if you could spare anything to help them.
Any donation would help, the monies raised will go on general bills, mortgage repayments, car maintenance, fuel, car parking costs at the hospitals and food.
Thank you all in advance xx
