Hi there!
My name is Helen. Yes, just like Helen of Troy, said to be the most beautiful women in the whooole world. For me, my mom is a goddess, just like hers. Let me tell you our story. I am 9 years old and since I was little I have been tagged as being “different” by society. My mom always tells me that I am special, not different. I wish I could tell her how much I love her. You know, the thing that makes me so special is that I have cerebral palsy and epilepsy. When I was born the doctors congratulated my mom for the healthy baby she gave birth to and told her I am perfectly fine. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell her that I wasn’t. No one told her that a suffocation during my birth has resulted in irreversible damages...
When I was 4 months old during a regular checkup the doctor noticed that something is not quite right, and I was marked by an irrevirsible diagnosis for life. Since then, our life has been a daily battle for improvement. Lately I’ve been feeling like being special has its price. For the past 9 years I have been through all kinds of therapies and procedures, we have tried literally everything we can in my country, Bulgaria. All this effort has paid off though! Mommy is so proud of me! Thanks to her dedication and our hard work now I can walk with her help, I can understand her and communicate in my own way! It is a long and hard road ahead, but I am sure that one day we will make our dream come true and I will have a normal life, I will be just like all the other kids, running around and doing mischiefs!
For the past 9 years we have tried everything in Bulgaria and doctors here say that we have done all we can for my situation and I will always be “different”. My mom though, she doesn’t give up on me! She’s taken me everywhere she can for a second, third and fourth opinion! Her dedication and strive for success led us to Dr Dzihan Abazovic in the Specialist Hospital of General Surgery “Global Care Support”, located in Novi Sad, Serbia. I have been approved for BMAC therapy, also known as stem cells treatment! The treatment costs 45 000 EUR which we don’t have. My mom takes care for me by herself and can’t work. We rely only on social help from the Government which is barely enough. I need your help to get better, I need your help to make my dream come true, I need your help to tell my mom how much I love her. Please, help me, and I promise you that I will keep fighting for my mom and strive for improvement every single day.
