Help get Zara to the World Champs

Hi everyone. I’m Zara Williams and in November I’m off to Australia to represent Great Britain in the Lifesaving World Championships. I have an excellent chance of bringing home more medals to add to my collection!
So, what is competitive lifesaving? There are two parts: stillwater (in the swimming pool where races are time based) and openwater (on the beach and in the ocean where the weather, tides and waves have an influence on the results). In both cases speed, fitness, experience and technique determine who wins.

I am currently the top ranked female pool lifesaver in the UK holding two European Records, one in the 50m Manikin Carry and the other in the 100m Rescue Medley. I hold seven out of the 10 British Records (including relays). I have represented Great Britain every year since 2011.
Lifesaving sport in the UK is not a professional sport and athletes have to fund themselves, not only to meet all the costs of training during the year but also the costs of travel and competition fees including all the kit (e.g. swimming costumes can cost £300 each). I have a part-time job and the rest of my day is devoted to training (at the pool and in the gym).
