My name is Cristine Perez-Olson, I am the parent of a child who attended A-Karrasel on Fullerton and Kimball.
Yestersay, on the day before Thanksgiving, and just a month before the holiday season, the teachers and staff of A-Karrasel were hit with some difficult news.
Without any prior notice or warning, the owner of the A-Karrasel Child Care Centers announced that due to lack of funding, he would be shutting down the facility on Fullerton and Kimball, effective immediately. This notification was sent at 10:00 am yesterday morning and the doors were closed by 1:00 pm, leaving the staff unemployed and parents of the children attending to scramble for alternative care by Monday.
Upon looking into this further, it has come to light that the staff of 9 wonderful women have also not been compensated in several weeks, causing many to struggle with even providing their families with a decent Thanksgiving dinner. For this to happen to anyone, especially these women who have continued to work without pay, out of pure love and commitment to the chidren they care for, is completely disgraceful and disheartening.
I've started this page is effort to raise the sum of $2000 for each of these 9 staff members, to help support themselves and their families, through this holiday season.
