Help for "Granny's" boy

Donation protected
Three years ago I received a phone call from an elderly woman in Richmond. She needed help with her dog, "Nasty."  I contacted Maureen with Saving Sunny Inc and we decided to visit this sweet lady and her dog!

When we arrived, she introduced herself as "Granny." And she insisted we call her "Granny."  Granny lived a very simple life. She had many animals and loved them all dearly. They were all well cared for and deeply loved. She was the kind of person us rescuers want as an adopter.  So why were we asked to come? Well, Granny needed help with "Nasty." Before I go further, I must share with you the reasoning behind his name.  Several years prior to our visit, Nasty wandered onto Granny's property. He was injured, scared and not real friendly. The neighbors later confirmed that Nasty had been thrown from a car and left behind. Granny spent the next days tending his wounds and attempting to make friends with him. After a few days, Granny had to have a "come to Jesus talk" with Nasty. She told him she would no longer tolerate him being "Nasty"....and he never was again! But the name stuck.

Nasty enjoyed the other dogs at Granny's house, but there was one he didn't like. Granny had to keep Nasty out front most of the time. Saving Sunny and Lexington Pit Crew set up a dog run and provided a dog house for Nasty.  Granny was so appreciative and happy. And so was Nasty.

This last weekend, I receieved a phone call from Granny's daughter. She relayed the news that Granny passed away. Her daughter has taken over care of the animals, but wants more for Nasty. He lays on the front porch looking for his Granny to come home. It's heartbreaking. The family reached out to me because they want Nasty to have a family and a yard and not have to live outside.

I have promised to help her. Granny was a wonderful woman. She rescued all sorts of animals and she made sure they were taken care of (vaccinated, altered, well fed, etc). Lexington Pit Crew and Saving Sunny Inc want to honor this wonderful woman by giving Nasty a great home. He will need some training as he has only been an outside dog. We are wanting to provide boarding and training prior to placing him in a foster home. We will need your help with this. Please make a donation. If  you can't donate, please share.
